Really great surge protector with awesome safety features and tons of outlets

At about 12-1/2"L x 3"W x 1-1/4' to 1-1/2"D, the APC P8U2 Surge Arrest allows for multiple plug types and even has light indicators showing "protection working" and "building wiring fault", which is a nice feature

-Very slim compared to other 8-plug surge protectors-Good layout which can really fit 4 adapters on the bottom row ( of course the size of an adapter would also matter)-Rotating power cord, no more awkward position or bent cord.-Good price especially with all those nice features

The other exceptional feature is the pair of 2.4V USB charging sockets (hence the “U2” in P8U2), and you can charge a cell phone or other device quickly

The device itself has really good features and was really reliable until I had a little smoke and fire inside in less than a year

The USB ports are great for my Chromecast as it eliminats one power brick.

The two USB ports are extremely convenient and I use them frequently

Great power strip, meeting all my needs for plugging stuff in and charging devices.

Prior to installing this APC device I used a standard inexpensive 9 outlet inline power strip.

As a modest surge arrester/power strip, this checks all the boxes.

Overall, it's a nice power supply strip and basic surge protector.

I only looked at APC because I respect the brand and their quality

Needed a good quality, moderately priced surge arrestor in APC brand.

The cord to plug it into an outlet is heavy but quite flexible - again giving the device a feeling of quality quite unusual in a power strip

There is a lot of outlets and the spacing is just right for what I use it with.

This surge protector has well thought out spacing on the ports which made it easy for me to fit all of my plugs

Also, I wanted something with good spacing between outlets, and this has excellent spacing.

Also like the spacing for most of the plugs to fit those big plugs typical for a computer desk.

Physically, the APC P8U2 has an excellent design that incorporates many improvements over traditional surge protector strips.

Even though the swivel neck on the power cable is a bit gimmicky the slim design 8 as appose to 6 ports make it versatile.

Upgraded from a simple power strip that did not have enough outlets

I can't really say I don't like the outlets, but they are weird

the pivoting outlets on the Belkin are kind of annoying because it makes it virtually possible to keep the surge protector flat)

Enough outlets for everything my computer workstation uses with a few left over

I had to spread out my A/C transformers, loosing an outlet next to each, in effect halving my outlets.

Sadly this surge protector failed on three power ports after a couple weeks

And a surge protector won't protect you against brown-outs like a back-up battery does

Biggest plus is that the cord rotates on this and will lay flat along the side

Last thing that would make it even better is if the cord was retractable.

I just threw that old cord out before this storm".This surge protector lays flat and the cord swivels to lay flat and stay stable/hidden more easily, as well.

I can't put the plug upside down, due to the grounding prong so the cord is weird

Plus since I've added a fire tv stick in the mix its nice to have the usb power right on the strip instead of a bulky power adapter

I had an older APC surge protector behind my entertainment center, but I needed one with USBs so as to power other peripheral devices without needing a bulky USB adapter.

The P8U2 also has a built in wiring fault indicator, which will test the electrical outlet you plug it into for proper wiring polarity and ground.

There's room to plug in 11 devices, and 6 of the inputs are designed to accommodate those annoying "black brick" plugs that usually steal an extra slot or two with their size

I hooked my PC and both of my reptiles heating controls, I love the way it fits all of those dumb giant brick plug ins!

I have so many chargers with bulky power bricks, I was constantly plugging and unplugging my devices because they would hog 2-3 slots on my regular powerstrip

Only one thing I'd like to see in the future, a couple more USB outlets, maybe even USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 slots.
