Reviews around product (5.00 of 5)

  • I recommend these products to all of my ham acquaintances.
  • Product was worth the cost, shipped on time, bee satisfied.
  • It’s a no-brainer to purchase these inexpensive products and use them everyday rather than wear out my more expensive name brand radios like Kenwood, Icom, and Yaesu
  • This radio might be a good product if it had customer support

Reviews around work (5.00 of 5)

  • The price was very reasonable and it's been working well so far
  • Using other unconnected mountts instead of the included mounting bracket is probably going to be the easiest work around, though
  • This radio works great, barfing techs customer service is also top notch.

Reviews around value (5.00 of 5)

  • And for those purposes, I think it will end up being a very good value.
  • For amateur radio operators, with good eyes, this is a very good value

Reviews around programming (5.00 of 5)

  • Programming is not as terrible as other radios and works well with CHIRP.
  • Programming is reasonably easy with CHIRP and buying the right cable.
  • Programming from the mic is very convoluted but with the optional USB programming cable, CHIRP works very well (and easy) to set up memorized frequencies.

  • Great job love it would like to know when you are going to come out with a hf radio

Reviews around connector (5.00 of 5)

  • SO-239 connector on back is slightly protected by those fins, but it's still easy to connect antenna cable to the socket and tighten
  • Even though I had quality cables, carefully protected outside cable connectors, and a qualtiy antenna tuned to SWR of 1.04:1, any momentary slight increase of SWR to a higher value would smoke the transmitter

Reviews around size (5.00 of 5)

  • I liked the size and the way the mounting bracket has four bolts and not just 2 knob screws
  • It's of a good size, not heavy, with a firm spring on the PTT

Reviews around mount (5.00 of 5)

  • very solid mounts
  • Sound from the top mounted speaker in the unit itself is nice and loud, and clear
  • A label on the top of the unit warns that the top surface gets hot, too, so that's another reason to let the top of the unit be mounted toward the open air

Reviews around sound (5.00 of 5)

  • Sound from the top mounted speaker in the unit itself is nice and loud, and clear
  • Internal speaker sounds nice and Tx/Rx reports indicate full quieting.
  • VERY tin can like sound.

Reviews around quality (4.26 of 5)

  • The audio quality of Baofeng is actually better because they use DSP on receive and transmit
  • Sound quality is excellent, both sending and receiving.
  • Poor build quality, returned and purchased Yaesu instead.
  • Sound quality is good on reception and I've gotten "loud and clear" reports on transmissions on both power settings, easily reaching repeaters more than 40 miles from me

Reviews around price (3.86 of 5)

  • , I'm glad I started out with a "cheap" (price and quality) radio first to see if I was ready for the big leagues.
  • The radio is what I was looking for and the price was right where I needed it to be.
  • The price was very reasonable and it's been working well so far

Reviews around report (3.86 of 5)

  • This radio gets very good audio reports from everyone I talk with, it has features of a radio costing 3 times as much.
  • Sound quality is good on reception and I've gotten "loud and clear" reports on transmissions on both power settings, easily reaching repeaters more than 40 miles from me
  • Is doing well so far with good reports from receivers, and good audio output
