VR App Store (or whatever it's officially called) better than what's available for Cardboard via Google Play Store.-Controller works well and easy to set up and figure out

The controller is not perfect, requires frequent adjustments, and is not as good as the higher priced computer based systems, though it is certainly a step in the right direction

The controller is super easy for beginners to understand, it is light and comfortably sits in your hand

The controller that comes with the device is great for some games, and for general navigation, but some games really need a gamepad to be playable

The controller is extremely useful and more convenient in use than a bluetooth mouse or gamepad as I used with my Note 4 and the two generic VR headsets

I really wanted this Samsung Gear VR to be great!Although the YouTube.com VR Videos and VR 360 videos viewed on a Samsung S9+ are sharp and perfectly clear on the cell phone screen, the videos weren't clear when viewed through this Samsung Gear VR headset.

Gunjack is probably my favorite game so far, although Minecraft is very fun as well

It seems like instead of investing in a smaller number of truly high quality 3D concert eperiences with major celebrities or some well made games (for example), the Gear strategy has been to procure a lot of "meh" offerings that are pretty hit or miss

However, once that got settled, I really started to enjoy the device

With the introduction of the controller, new games were brought to the market that help make the Gear VR even more of a portable gaming system

I really love it, did not imagine myself spending this much time enjoying it, literally you I enjoy the world around me in 360 degree in my own home

Lighter and more comfortable, the cushions that touch the face are of higher quality and provide excellent soft/cozy feeling

(Compared to Cardboard):-Main problem with Cardboard was how hot the phones I used with it would get hot-almost uncomfortable to the touch hot-often within about 5 minutes of use

If you do not use it in front of a fan the lenses tend to fog up and the phone gets too hot

When the phone gets hot, it does not function properly.

It's also much more affordable than getting the Rift, and I can make use of my already capable phone

The only issue I have is that my phone gets hot fairly fast

Having to remove the case and screen protector to use the Gear VR is going to limit how much I use it.-Better than Google Cardboard, but not significantly different experience overall

Although I could still tell at times that my double-vision was factoring into a correct perception of the full image, the immersive experience of a 360° VR space was not impacted.

As a sports fan, I tried out the VR experience to watch an NBA game which was a cool experience

I've spent many hours comfortably binge watching shows on Netflix's giant tv screen situated in a mountain cabin, and would highly recommend this experience

Works great, only drawback is it drains the phone way too fast.

Getting back to the use of 3rd-party apps however, one hardware modification approach to that is to ensure your phone doesn't connect via USB to the headset, and the easiest way to do this if you only plan to use one type of USB phone connection (USB C for example), is modify the other USB adapter to remove the USB plug from the adapter module.

a well known issue with Cardboard and some phones was that as you watched video or used a VR app, the screen would some times drift off center, so things that at first appeared to be right in front of you would in time appear be to the left or right of you and the only way to fix it would be to restart the video or app

It lacks adjustability for the interpupillary distance that the Canbor provided, but I've found no need for it because whether wearing my glasses or not, and even taking into consideration that I have amblyopia (lazy eye & double vision), this headset still works remarkably well for me.

It would be great if the headset had better venting of air through the headset for cooler operation and less sweating, as well as less lens fogging, but such venting would need to be done in a manner that doesn't leak in light, so I'm not sure how effective it would be

Having previously bought a Canbor 3D VR headset as well as a Verge VR headset to try out with my Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and experienced a limited measure of enjoyment, all I can say about the Samsung Gear VR with controller is that it totally blows those simpler headsets out of the water!

Overall, a nice headset much more worth the price than basic headsets at half the price.
