About 1x per week I throw a little vinegar into some leftover warm water and it stays sparkling clean.the LED lights (red and green) that are on during the heating up phase project through the water, off the bottom, up out through the galss, and only my backsplash

The LED lights that illuminate the water are in the base of the handle and point toward the thermal sensor.

Far as I can tell, you must open it manually, which isn't really a huge problem, except if the pot is hot and you want to add more water

I was looking for a glass kettle with variable temperature settings and a fast heating element

It not only looks nice sitting on the counter but also heats water from cold to a boil VERY quickly

My only critique of this product is that the color LEDs are built to blend with each other to make different colors but when it's set to a color temperature like purple you can totally see the red and blue light too

That said, the colors are pretty and it does boil water quickly and efficiently

The different LED light colors for different temperatures is a handy way to distinguish the target temperature and it is easy to set up the "keep heated" mode to maintain water temperature for 30 minutes once heated.

If the colors weren't weird I'd have given it 5 stars.
