Used clear coat from a different conpany for a cleaner finish.
The clear coat finish is very durable, and the two together are a great solution.
After you've finished removing the damage with this kit, I recommend Sylvania's UV sealant to keep the headlights looking great and prevent future UV damage to the plastic lenses
The headlight became pitted over the last 13 years, which resulted in a massively dull finish
My lenses were not horrible but I had to scrape by to get a good finish
The main difference between this kit and the more expensive 3M kits is that this one (39084) doesn't come with the Headlight Wax Sealant to coat your headlights with to prolong the clear/ clean look
The kit was enough for both headlights, and you should do both headlights at the same time
so I decided to try the more aggressive 3M kit for severe restoration needs.
The 3M Headlight Kit was easy to use and well worth the price.
Then again this is a fairly cheap kit, not a professional kit.
I did purchase the 3M clear coat kit in addition to this kit
After using this kit the headlights did not look much better than they did, however, after using the 3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat there was a massive difference
I've attached photos of my headlights - before, after the restoration kit, and after applying 3M clear coat wipes
I used this on my truck but also used the "3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat"
Get the 3M UV Protection part number 39173 to apply at the end....or you will be doing this dance again within 2-3 months.
I was skeptical about buying this kit to do my mother’s 2013 Toyota Highlander that has bad yellowing/oxidation on the headlight lenses
My 2012 Prius C had some pretty bad oxidation and plastic dulling from years of being parked out doors
For severe oxidation, you need to use a 120 followed by a 400 grit then use this kit.
(They say not to do this in the instructions, and let me tell you... that crap is *incredibly* difficult to get off if you overdo it & smudge the lights).PSA:If your headlight lenses are large, get a cheap orbital sander (~$15 to $20), get some store-bought ~200 grit sandpaper (<$5), and knock off the heavy oxidation before using this kit
I am very pleased with the instructions and materials, I'd recommend this kit as it's economical and works well
Lights were cloudy, and almost failed inspection, but tech recommended this stuff and we were totally impressed!
Then I got out my clean, dry, blue shop towel and started to rub off all of the excess compound and holy cr*p
Lenses were clouded by original factory coating which was chipping off and clear in some spots, sanded down entire lens with provided pads, I frequently beat dust out of sanding pads and wiped lense surfaces down with clean t-shirt rags because build-up of dust in grit happens quickly and will mar the work.
n’t work I would go for something that has buffing compound and buff
if they're too clouded you'll fail your State Inspection and two clear lenses will give you more light at night and also other drivers will be able to see you much sooner
There is only a few small spots that I was not able to clear up, but totally worth the money.

good light and non dusty area ...even a good led flashlight to check for missed spots
Don't be afraid to do several more passes with the 400/600 grit pads, because trying to smooth out spots later (especially when you move onto the buffering step) will be very time/resource consuming.2
If you take your time, your headlights will be a s good as new.
