It doesn't respond to a "wake word" but rather you have to find the remote (often a problem) and then you press and hold the microphone button while you talk.2

You may also need to clean the remote's positive terminal with alcohol and a cotton swab to make sure corrosion or debris isn’t interfering with making a good connection
