But after having it for a month, multiple trips carrying 2 or 1 bikes, it works as is, definitely great VALUE!!Easy to assemble, easy to mount on the car, not hard, takes about 5 mins once u get hang of it

Only gets kind of funky if your bike has a weird bike frame but the product itself is a great buy

I recommend a bungee cord with it as your front tire is loose and can bang around.

so I use a bungee cord to secure the lower half of the bike so it doesn't wobble around while I'm driving.

I would strongly suggest to get couple bungee cords - so you can secure front wheels.

I used 2 bungee cords ( 1 to secure the front tire to the bike frame and the other to secure the bike tight to the rack

And you'll want to buy a couple bungee cords to secure the bike on there so the tires don't move and hit your vehicle as you drive

This rack is perfect for my needs, it is a great fit for my 2008 Hhr and very easy to put on and take off, I have even carried my wife's wheelchair with no issues

This trunk mount is a perfect fit, I have it on a 09’ Toyota Camry

Other than this clip flaw, the rack is very good quality for the money and it’s not that big a deal to fix the clip situation on your own.

Easy to assemble but the quality of the straps are not good enough.. plastic.. and the rear support cover your plates .. but works nice taking 2 bikes

The only negative is the straps will scratch the paint on your car and also if you put your bike on the rack closest to the trunk it will scratch the bike up too

Also the straps are not safe enough and it scratch my Rav4 by the way

Each cradle has a strap which you are supposed to tighten to hold the bike in place, but I find those straps loosen up very quickly, like within a mile or two.

I always tighten the straps again after securing my bike on the rack and also secure the wheels with bungee cords/the excess straps so that they don't spin or turn to hit my car

After three uses, the straps broke off while I was driving, sending my bike flying onto the road

Electrical tape or rubber inside the clips will protect the paint of your car if you feel it’s necessary

We did put electrical tape over the hooks to prevent scratches & secured the bike wheels with zip ties

n’t scratch your car paint.

I also added some electrical tape to the metal so it wouldn’t scratch my paint

This bike rack scratched my car after installing it properly with 2 bikes.

The only thing, (that probably is a problem with even the more expensive bike racks) is the metal straps scratching your car

I am astonished the manufacturer does not already have the clips dipped in plastic or have plastic covers over them, this thing will destroy your car’s paint if you don’t use some kind of protection

I didn’t have any issues with it scratching or marking up my car

It's totally sturdy, no issues with it rubbing my car paint the wrong way or moving around while driving

The hardest issue was trying to get the 2 pins to lock in

The clips that go into trunk are metal and can scratch car

the problem is my bike is too big so my car already is scratched

I found that I had to make sure the rack was as far up on the trunk as I could get it so the petals didn't scratch the car.

Also, there is no rubber around the metal clips, so they will scratch your car

I made a protector for the metal parts to not scratch my car

I secured them similar to putting lugs on a car (a star pattern) several times and often still noticed the bikes would move

I had a really hard time connecting the corner poles into the main poles of the rack

It scratched my trunk almost every time I used it no matter how you strap or tie down the bike

From what I can guess, it would take a professional bodybuilder to do that, and, by the way, if you miss putting it into the hole, you can say 'goodbye' to your finger (it does warn of a 'pinch point', which should be a 'finger cutoff point').I have wasted enough time on this; I am now looking at alternative options in the market.

Scratched the hell out of my trunk and don't trust it on the freeway

I haven't driven very far with it or over super bumpy roads, but I feel like it will still hold

We traveled from Gainesville, Fl to Seattle, WA, driving through every bumpy rough road imaginable and the thing never fell off and our bikes made it the whole way

I’ll take the suggestion of others and get something to cover the hooks so there isn’t scratching down the road.

I was very worried that it wouldn't hold up to the long abuse of bumpy roads, winding streets, and highway speeds without falling off or damaging my car

Just be careful not to pinch your fingers

Anyway, for all those customers who don't want to destroy your fingers, you can save them with a pair of pliers and a wrench

First of all beware of the metal spring that locks into the mount, I pinched my finger right off the bat haha

Almost broke a finger following the instructions within the "pinch point

(i did pinch my finger really badly putting the metal point to the stem of the rack

The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the metal clips should have some type of material to keep from eventually scratching the car trunk

The hitch pressed into the back of the car, damaging the trunk and of course the bike tire was also ruined.

The biggest issue that I had with this was that it scuffed my trunk of my Ford Taurus.
