Allen Sports Deluxe 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack, Model 102DN-R , Black

    • I also felt the clips would have scarred my paint.
    • I am astonished the manufacturer does not already have the clips dipped in plastic or have plastic covers over them, this thing will destroy your car’s paint if you don’t use some kind of protection
    • Make sure to use electrical tape on the metal clamps that way you can wipe off the black residue from the tape instead of the clamps scratching your paint
    • but as others have said wrap some electrical tape around the hooks because it will scratch your paint the very 1st use.
    • This also might scratch your paint so beware
    • The metal hooks don't have rubber padding, potentially damaging the paint
    • I’m going to buy a jar of the plastic dip and dip the clips into that, that will be a permanent solution to protect the paint on my car
    • Hooks will scratch you paint!
    • but I don't recommend using this with a 2017 Mustang unless you don't care scratching your paint and trunk lid plastic plate.
    • the only issue that I have seen is that the metal hinges will scratch your vehicles paint.
    • It rubs metal against metal and scratches the painting.
    • Could use some padding on metal hooks to protect paint though.
    • - Also it may damage the paint in your trunk (the side hooks) but either put some tape or I don't care because my car is so old that I don't care
    • The metal pieces have already severely damaged the paint where they hook to the trunk
    • so it doesn't scratch the paint
    • n’t scratch your car paint.
    • They would also scratch paint.
    • It will mark the paint on your car after awhile, saw after I took it off that the paint is marred and small dents in trunk lid
    • Only complaint is that the straps, the ones that you attach to the trunk do not have a rubber, meaning if you’re not careful you can potentially scratch your paint.
    • I also bought Car scratch protectors to protect my paint where the hooks
    • Scratches off paint on your vehicle, careful going on over speedbumps cus mine fell off, instructions were terrible.
    • Didn't like so much because the hooks can damage your paint and the bottom bar hid my license plate number
    • Electrical tape or rubber inside the clips will protect the paint of your car if you feel it’s necessary
    • There are faded paint marks right where the pads rest up against
    • Better if these pegs are coming with a plastic or foam coating I am sure it will help to make sure that the paint will not get scratched off with long term usage.
    • I recommend wrapping some electrical tape or something along those lines around the metal clasps that go on your trunk - that way it protects the paint a little bit
    • I'd recommend following some of the suggestions in other reviews to protect the paint on your car - don't use without taking precautions
    • The socks cover the strap because when you drive down the road with bikes attached the rack/straps do move a little and scratch the paint of your car if you don’t add protection
    • The hold down metal hooks have to be attached inside the trunk otherwise they will absolutely scratch your car paint
    • Outstanding for the price, but, the straps that hold from vehicle has not rubber or anything that can protect the paint
    • If you don't use pads, your paint will get scratched up no matter
    • Im happy with it, but you have to be careful to make sure all the straps are loose because removing the clasps from the grooves of your car, it could scratch your paint.
    • just too close to the car, so the pedals can scratch the paint
    • We also used electrical tape and wrapped all metal pieces to help it not scratch the paint
    • The hooks are bare metal and will damage car paint
    • The clips haven't damaged my paint, but I'm not particularly concerned about
    • That being said the bike rack will mess the paint up on your car if you don’t change it before you install it
    • so it doesn't scratch the vehicle paint.
    • Unless you have an old beater of a car yur gonna wreck the paint!
    • The only negative is the straps will scratch the paint on your car and also if you put your bike on the rack closest to the trunk it will scratch the bike up too
    • Can scratch your trunk/paint so try to cover the area with something.
    • Does not scratch the paint.
    • I put some clear film on these areas to hopefully protect paint
    • It works, it’s cheap, and if you leave it on your car when not using it to transport bikes it will slowly, but surely chip the paint off and scuff the paint.
    • No rubber coating on them or anything to protect the paint on a vehicle
    • Took off the clear coat and paint
    • If there was any movement of strap it could potentially damage paint
    • This also might scratch your paint so beware
    • Great rack but be advised 1) the hooks will eventually chip or scratch your paint
    • They scratched the paint on my trunk top and sides
    • BUT be cautious of the metal hooks on the straps because they can definitely scratch your paint up.
    • Protect the paint on your car from scratches from the hooks.
    • I also added some electrical tape to the metal so it wouldn’t scratch my paint
    • In my pictures, you can see the rack empty as well as with two bikes attached
    • n’t recommend this rack!!!BEWARE OF THIS RACK!!!!
    • n’t scratch.
