I use 35 to 50 USB cables in my "day job," and this kind of length requires special cables with some signal boosting capability

the internal adapter of the laptop can’t get the strong signal, but with a wireless Internet dongle connected to this extension, I can just move the cable around the room until I found the strongest Wi-Fi spot, even if it means across the room
