It is smooth yet grabs the string really well, for me it as well worth the price.
I love it, feels like it moves more smoothly but grabs the strings better, improves sound vastly, especially compared to the fifty-cent crap I had before
Build-up might be lower, but I clean strings after each practice anyway.
I do note that the A string is brighter -- so I need to tone it down a bit
