Very good battery backup, if your running something that is not too power hungry, it will run it for over an hour
Frequent Florida lightning strikes require the best Surge Protector available, and this unit has a great battery backup if local power should be lost!
It has provided enough backup so that I have never needed a shutdown.
Bought this one to replace a failing Battery Backup.
You would hope that Amazon would have newer inventory of these units, or that Amazon wouldnt knowingly carry defective units, but clearly from the reviews on Amazon, it's still hit or miss as to whether or not you will order an APC BR1500MS (or BR1000MS, etc) and get one that doesn't chirp
Other companies are certainly improving, but when it's critical I always go with APC.
They don' t require much power, like the Bridgeport mill and Republic Turnmaster lathe they serve
Not as bad as I first thought

Easy installation, Already had some power outages and working as advertised

It provides proprietary features that just aren't going to be provided by your OS natively
Had to turn off the "smart" power feature, but it's been solid
but it's annoying as much for having to press the button as it is for losing a feature that the old one did well and wouldn't have have been hard to do for this one too.
The display panel shows the load on the UPS which is a useful feature.
I considered the equivalent Cyberpower model, but it appears at the time of my purchase the APC is the better value, and it looks like the AVR functionality is a little better on the APC with both overvoltage and undervoltage protection.
Mine does it but it does not bother me as much as it bothers some of the reviewers.
mine works great looks great but smells like cat urine...strongly....have had it out in a open room for several days its still as strong as ever...wonder if its battery acid?but smell aside this is a great value
The battery will still bleed even if it outside the APC but not as fast as when it is inserted in the usable position

I was expecting the display to be a gimmick, but it does provide some helpful information about the current load, remaining time on battery (based current load), etc
Other companies are certainly improving, but when it's critical I always go with APC.
I like the display that shows time left on battery use, power in, and power out
Great display for information showing how much power is being used and more juice than most APCs.
What I noticed is the whine is slightly louder and the frequency slighly lower when you press the LCD display on - but the display automatically shuts off after 60 seconds and that whine pretty much goes away
APC has a three-year warranty, and replaced the UPS for free when it failed
My old APC 1400 had served me well over the years but when the UPS started complaining about the battery not holding any longer, I started looking around for it's replacement
Great UPS so far, it's already saved my computer while the power was out.
This is a good UPS, but note that this will not save you from power surge
I have been a loyal APC UPS customer for over 20 years.
This is a must for those of us who live in NYC - Con Ed in NYC sucks beyond belief: high rates and lousy service
Excellent customer service and excellent product will buy again
In a world with very bad customer service and poor follow-through from just about every manufacturer, and painful RMA /exchange processes, APC is almost Amazon-like with regards to great customer service and honoring their manufacturer warranty
My experience was out of the ordinary but they still provided excellent customer service
Other companies are certainly improving, but when it's critical I always go with APC.
These can be found cheaper elsewhere but amazon ships this heavy beast free, and if you get a dud just send send it back
Works very well, shipped quickly, and exactly as described.
Furthermore, CyberPower has made myself and friends PAY to ship defective units back to them in the past, while APC handles warranty returns and exchanges for free (which is critical for shipping a heavy UPS that equates to expensive shipping)
It is quite heavy, and batteries have very restrictive shipping rules.
Most likely not worth the shipping to send it to APC and wait for weeks if not months--weighs more than my first car
Like all APC products I have used works great and very reliable.
I have been a loyal APC UPS customer for over 20 years.
I easily re-packed my defective APC UPS in the box that came with my new unit, then I slapped the free return-shipping label on the box and brought it to a FedEx drop-off location
Works as well as all other APC units at a reasonable cost.
UPS itself works great, however APC has serious quality control issues.
These machines also have state of art computer controls that require clean a/c current
My inverter just doesn't have enough power by itself or clean a/c
As others have indicated, this unit has a rather atrocious constant high-pitched whine that periodically (once every few seconds or so) ramps up into a louder "chirp"
I wanted to purchase from Amazon as they offered a great price on this APC BR1500MS unit, so I ordered the unit knowing that 'older' manufactured units had the annoying chirping sound, but hoping that I would be getting a newer-manufactured unit without the defect
The unit looks and feels very nice, but this chirping is so distracting that I can't use it right now.
As many people have stated, there's a high-pitched whine from the unit
My inverter just doesn't have enough power by itself or clean a/c
Despite what the seller says in the questions section the high-pitched whine is NOT fixed
As others have indicated, this unit has a rather atrocious constant high-pitched whine that periodically (once every few seconds or so) ramps up into a louder "chirp"
They don' t require much power, like the Bridgeport mill and Republic Turnmaster lathe they serve
Thankfully, the annoying beeping sound can be muted on the front panel
If you wake the display on the APC it makes an even more annoying buzzing sound.
To test the system, I disconnected the power, and the battery lasted for over 2 hours of use with the TV on vivid display and the sound at a fun level for watching movies with a friend
The unit also makes a whiny/buzzing sound whenever the screen is on, but that goes away when the screen turns off.
The battery drained, the unit On/Off switch was unresponsive and began making a strange sound .
I've seen occasional unexplained power loss to my desktop, intermittent buzzing or clicking from the APC unit, and several false alarms where the unit believes it has no power even though it does
You can even turn the screen to stay on, and the power loss sound off
That means the expected standby time during a complete power loss is around one hour, even while using the computer.
I experience the "chirp" that the other folks that left reviews are also experiencing (included video)I purchased 2 units 1500VA and one 1000VA both experience the wonderful chirp that is a little annoying when they are together.very dissatisfied with both of these products as i've owned other APC units that run completely silent until under commercial power loss.*added to
Also, if power is lost, the software that was included will shut the computer down before the unit runs out of juice, ensuring that my machine doesn't try to keep going after a power loss
