Apple iPod 30 GB 5th Generation (Black) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

    • Wonderful video - I have easily ripped numerous of my DVDs to fit on this screen (using free software)
    • The video likes to freeze up occasionally, which falls into the previous sentence
    • i got this after my ipod shuffle was stollen and i didnt think the video would be good
    • The screen is small but it really supports videos just fine.
    • Not only does it play high quality music, but it plays videos as well
    • Fourth, I can't use the videos on my computer without buying quick time pro, and I just wasted $
    • Overall, I love my new iPod Video, and recommend you to buy one if you have the money
    • Well, I bought an Ipod Video 30GB
    • Oh how I love my Video iPOD
    • Sound quality is incredible and the video looks great on the new screen size.
    • The video looks stunning and crisp
    • Also, later iPod Video Classic generations use a cheap-sounding audio chipset
    • Great Operating System, no problems reproducing video, excellent sound, extra features (sync with microsoft outlook) among others
    • I still like the iPod Video.
    • Pros:-elegant design-decent sound quality when paired with some good headphones (like my Koss PortaPro Headphones with Case)-decent size for the price (which, for me, was $50 with my Mac)-With a Mac, can sync things like contacts and calendar appointments, which is surprisingly useful-Video quality is nice though I never use it-solid build quality (though I've never dropped it onto a hard surface, thank god)Cons:-not enough space for my collection (I need about 60gig, but the new Classics are 120gig, so get one of those)-scrolling on clickwheel is touchy; often just as I take my thumb off of it, the slight movement of doing so moves the selector to the next item rather than the thing I was selecting, which is frustrating.-battery life is acceptable but could be better (and is on the newer models)-powering on/off is kind of stupid with having to hold a button down for three seconds.-pulling the headphone cord usually pauses the
    • so if you are planning to go far remember to bring you labtop or spend for a charger, low battery life music-3hr+/- video-1hr+/-, conversion of music from pc to ipod is not consumer friendly, No video converter, face: scratch very easy- back: scratch and catch grease from your hand, a lot of lack time on control from screen to screen, black ipod comes with white accessories
    • It plays videos just like a little TV
    • Apple's web site says it supports H.264 video at 320x240 resolution at up to 768 kbits/second, or MPEG-4 resolutions of up to 480x480, and 2.5Mbits/
    • Apple scrimped on quality in order to drop the price of the later Video Classic iPods
    • I can watch all my favorite videos and movies
    • Even video's look amazing on that small screen.
    • In my title, I stated that this is not the best video player
    • (Like the videos were hard to understand at first, but I did my research and now I got it down!)Guaranteed the best mp3
    • With the ability to hold over 10k songs, clear video options, and iTunes, this iPod has taken music appreciation to a new level.
    • it supports video, audio (DUH!!!), lyrics, album photo, pictures, 2.5 inch screen
    • Slim, lightweight, crisp video, good sound qualityCons
    • Anyways what I am trying to say is that when the best of the best ipod nano or video comes out (if it ever does) apple will launch another version for sure
    • My son's friends love to gather around an watch the weird videos that he find and down loads.
    • i have a ipod mini as well, but compared to this colorful video playing, picture viewing, organizer with lots of other stuff it made the ipod mini look cheap
    • If you don't care for said options and prefer to listen to your music naturally and would like to watch superb-quality video, then by all means, read on
    • Maybe if I were watching a movie on the bus home it might die as I've read that watching video is very hard on the battery, but who the heck wants to sit and stare at this screen for more than 20 mins?
    • Logitech seems to be trying to alleviate that, but their headphones are currently riddled with manufacturer defects and don't even support the Video
    • The best thing is watching video's on it, the screen might look small, but its not bad watching music video's, etc.
    • If you have an old iPod, you'll love the video iPod
    • The video quality is amazing, and you can even cable the video out to a standard television (with an optional accessory cable) and watch your iPod videos with acceptable quality (roughly equivalent quality to VHS once it's blown up to a larger size.
    • The videos play well and the songs sound great.
    • Unbelieveable...and so much for the video capabilities niether mpeg nor avi file formats are supported!
    • but it's light, compact and has terrific sound/video when watching it and listening to the headset.
    • The Apple Ipod G5 is the latest personal audio/video system available from Apple
    • very easy-Video's need to be
    • (Like the videos were hard to understand at first, but I did my research and now I got it down!)Guaranteed the best mp3
    • As far as the video is concerned - I downloaded the King Kong trailer from the Apple website - and it doesn't look bad
    • Unless it's in really bright light, the video is very crisp and I love watching T.V. shows that I missed while I am taking the train to work.
    • To my dismay, later iPod Video Classic generations eliminated this NTSC / PAL output signal
    • However, the iPod video...well, it didn't sound nearly as good as the photo, even after jacking with the EQ's and upgrading my firmware to the latest version (the latest when I received it, anyway).
    • If you are interested to have a great video and music player with the whooping 30GB then this is definitely the best product
    • I LOVE my Video iPod
    • Okay, the G3 has a bigger screen and many more apps, but after all I just want to listen to music and see an occasional video like free video Podcasts and this works great!
    • Okay, the G3 has a bigger screen and many more apps, but after all I just want to listen to music and see an occasional video like free video Podcasts and this works great!
    • excellent video quality, button response, and battery life
    • It's easy to load onto pod once you've procured appropriate video-to-ipod suite software, although it does take some time
    • One drawback: the number of video shows available is limited
    • I converted all my quicktime videos into m4a video format to work better with the iPod and they look and work beautifully
    • Only downside is that the downloadable videos on iTunes is somewhat limited and there are no full length movies.
    • I don't really know what I was expecting out of this thing, but as soon as a loaded a video on it, I was thrilled by the awesome video quality.
    • My recommendations are if you can wait a little bit more dont buy this iPod and instead wait for the 6G iPod which might have better battery life and better Video integration.
    • What made a good (but over hyped) music player doesn't make a good video player
    • I had to format the thing... lost all my Video, Contacts, Calanders, and Pics... have to redo that
    • I thought watching videos on it would be foolish because of the small screen, but the truth is the video is crystal clear
    • You may also download and watch TV and movies as well as video podcasts
    • Battery life is horrible [non-video use, just audio: 2.5 -3 hours max
    • At first I didn't think the video part would be used at all (because I didn't relish watching video on a 2.5" screen), but I have to say that it is actually quite good
    • The Video is sharp and clear, colors are great, loading movies, TV shows, Photos, music and more is easy and fast
    • Having experienced this type of portable video capabilty for the first time, I'm starting to think the ipod doesn't offer enough, and I'm thinking of more dedicated machines such as the Archos 500 or Cowon A2 - bigger screens, longer battery life etc -
    • I was able to convert my Simpons collection to iPod-ready videos and they play very
    • Logitech seems to be trying to alleviate that, but their headphones are currently riddled with manufacturer defects and don't even support the Video.
    • But other then that I love this new iPod Video!
    • The video likes to freeze up occasionally, which falls into the previous sentence
    • I've had my ipod (30 gb video, black) for several weeks now, and love it!
    • Wonderful video - I have easily ripped numerous of my DVDs to fit on this screen (using free software)
    • Video is a novelty.
    • With the capability to playback crisp and vibrant video in both H.264 and MPEG-4 formats, the new iPod enables you to take your shows on the go.
    • The new video i-pod makes long journeys shorter, lonely meals enjoyable, and enables one to store all favorite songs and pictures hassle free in to a small gadget! The only negative thing I can say is the lack of earphone quality!
    • Smooth video playback.6
    • All in all I love my ipod video
    • Video, however, saps the battery life like nothing else.
    • I really love its picture and video
    • The videos are a little more work than I thought they'd
    • Apples next generation of Ipods leads us into new territory finally...Video
    • a few disadvantages!Pros:-music quality is excellent-video is
    • Also the video you convert may have a few complications, the audio and video may not be sychronized...at all and for those of you who have already purchased this piece of
    • the video's are nice and the music sounds great
    • First of all, the video capabilities.
    • Video very easy to use; works smoothly snd seamlessly.
    • for those people I guess I would only really recommend this product to those who wanted the video playing capability
    • Plus the battery life for the video is only 2-3 hours depending on the model (30 or 60 GB).To get video to work propery on your iPod, it needs to be encoded as either an MPEG4 or H.262 file
    • the sound (with good ear buds) is excellent, and the video is very, very good.
    • This iPod has amazing video and sound
    • But if you are looking for a portable video player for videos you already own, 2 or 3 stars at best because of the compatability issues.
    • the sound quality (i'm really picky)- the ease of use (click wheel is king)- the video quality- the itunes works wonderfullyCons:- (like other reviewers mentioned before
    • ok, the ipod video is hands down the best mp3/video player on the market now
    • Video drains the battery.
    • i love my ipod video and the video capability is the best you can get right now
    • The iPod Video is the best!
    • But I gained slide shows and video that I didn't have
    • This iPod may also not have the best battery life, but at least I can watch videos such as Spongebob, Lost, etc
    • Video, however, saps the battery life like nothing else.
    • THE VIDEO IS AMAZING, THE VIDEO CAPABILITIES ARE
    • I spend a lot of time between appiontments so the video is worth it for me, but, might not be for everyone.
    • I hope when the actual Video iPod comes out (keep in mind, this is NOT the "video iPod") they'll improve battery life so you can use it longer between charges.2.
    • do you recomend the ipod video for heavy video use
    • You can convert your own videos and DVDs to iPod compatible video
    • * Video is very usable on the tiny screen
    • There are also iPod A/V cables available that allow composite video and audio output, for connecting your iPod to your television
    • Keep in mind that this is my opinion and you know as well as I if you were thinking about getting one of these (or not
    • First the positives--I have the 30GB version and have found the transfer time from windows to be insignficant, sound quality is terrific and the slim design a nice plus
    • you know as well as I thats a stupid reason not to get one of these
    • I first received an i-pod that didn't work properly, but the vendor quickly replaced it for
    • Trust me on this one i hav a black i pod and its awesome
