My honest opinion, if you love MAC`s and the way they operate and there filing system, the UNIX kernal, or maybe your a dev guy just starting out BUY A WINDOWS LAPTOP AND PUT LINUX UBUNTU ON IT!
so I thougt this system would suffice for day to day home applications
With its i5 processor the system is responsive and is able to run all my work applications.

: I lowered the star again, despite an impeccable operating system the hardware in this Mac mini is painfully slow
If you plan to use it with moderate load it's a good choice, but if you want to open many browser tabs + MS Excel + something else... you should better think about 8Gb of RAM
even my wife who is not the tech savvy type has made the change well which means that not only was it a good choice, but easy to use
If you use it for emails, browsing the web, word processing, spreadsheet and streaming media contents, this is a very good choice especially if you could get it at around $300.
It was silly for me to buy an iMac as I already have a huge monitor, so this seemed like a good choice.
with the price of ram never dropping and 8gb being standard, the move to LPDDR3 was a good choice, but 4gb is not enough for most people
I knew it would have limits, but the speed difference was so dramatic, I returned it a few days later... and bought their middle configuration, which costs $200 more, which nearly doubles the CPU speed to 2.6 Ghz... and doubles the hard drive size from 500GB to 1TB (1000 GB)... but more importantly, it doubles the RAM to 8GB.

Love the size and sleekness of its design and of course its performance
MacMini's are a nice size, but haven't been updated since 2014.
One thing that I read on criticisms of this current model is no upgradeable RAM
Quite stylish as well.- 8GB is fine, I use LogiProX and Gband for mixing and recording music, and have all many other apps open at the same time no lag no problems.- I was concerned about the memory usage and even the apps that tell you you have very little ram available left aren't telling you the whole story

User upgradable RAM, HDD, and external GPU support could have made this a much longer lasting machine.
Don't buy this if you want a fast machine that you can upgrade, but do if you want a reasonably fast Mac for a really good price.
It's lightning fast, tiny in size and was priced JUST right!
I think the price is a little steep for what we get, but I knew the price and the specs up front,
Best Buy to try and purchase one because of the great price, & the guy didn't even know what I was talking about
If you want a base model version, you can replace the hdd on this all you need is a torx t6 screw (lets be honest, if you are changing anything in a mac mini you are already watching some tutorial video and probably had to get special tools anyways, so a torn t6 is really not that uncommon). The only complaint I have and will have is the price of ram and the 5400rpm drives still being used in ALL computers and consoles
The mini is a great computer, but I ordered this one with a 1TB hard drive
I was concerned about the 1TB 5400RPM hard drive because I've been using SSDs since they went mainstream a few years
For the 2.6 GHz model, I replaced the 1 TB hard drive with a Crucial MX 200 512 GB SSD drive to improve the speed.
The 1TB of storage is enough (for now). The Mac Mini is easy to tote around, just unplug my power cable, HDMI, and pack those and my computer into my bag
It has the 2.6 ghz Dual Core Haswell processor with 8 gb of RAM at 1600 MHz, Intel Iris graphics and a 5400 rpm 1 TB hard drive

Well, I purchased a small form factor PC, just to see if I wanted to switch to PC for this generation, and despite its superior hardware and blazingly powerful graphics, Windows is the devil
We all know that Windows PCs get very slow over time and have many virus and malware problems that get by security software
Actually, with the exception of my dad's PC (who is a stubborn Windows user), all of the computers in our house are either real Macs or Hackintoshes.
I thought I would give it a try because I am tired of Windows machines and their problems

The machine received a second thunderbolt 2 port and lost its Firewire 800 port
However, I've finally decided to hitch my wagon to a different horse when it's time to replace this computer, which might be now if I can't get this stupid HDMI port to work again.
