  • My honest opinion, if you love MAC`s and the way they operate and there filing system, the UNIX kernal, or maybe your a dev guy just starting out BUY A WINDOWS LAPTOP AND PUT LINUX UBUNTU ON IT!
  • so I thougt this system would suffice for day to day home applications
  • With its i5 processor the system is responsive and is able to run all my work applications.

  • : I lowered the star again, despite an impeccable operating system the hardware in this Mac mini is painfully slow

Reviews around choice (5.00 of 5)

  • If you plan to use it with moderate load it's a good choice, but if you want to open many browser tabs + MS Excel + something else... you should better think about 8Gb of RAM
  • even my wife who is not the tech savvy type has made the change well which means that not only was it a good choice, but easy to use
  • If you use it for emails, browsing the web, word processing, spreadsheet and streaming media contents, this is a very good choice especially if you could get it at around $300.
  • It was silly for me to buy an iMac as I already have a huge monitor, so this seemed like a good choice.
  • with the price of ram never dropping and 8gb being standard, the move to LPDDR3 was a good choice, but 4gb is not enough for most people

Reviews around way (4.56 of 5)

  • but I'm still confused as to what happened there.
  • Awesome computer and great way to save money but still get a Mac
  • For the creative community apple is seriously the best way to go!
  • That way you'll get the biggest benefit from the computer and it will cost you less over time
  • Purchased directly from APPLE due to discount, This is a great and cheap way to introduce a MAC into your home

Reviews around monitor (4.53 of 5)

  • You will need to have a HDMI ready monitor to connect it to
  • The way it works with my nice LG monitor is the total opposite of eIegant!
  • Pair it with an inexpensive monitor with HDMI, a pair of JBL or Bose speakers, and any mac format keyboard and a mouse and
  • Works great with my Samsung HD monitor with clear, crisp display (although not at the "retina" level... but close!).

Reviews around mini (4.22 of 5)

  • We love the mini because we were able to keep our existing monitor.
  • It'll cost more than upgrading yourself but will give you a more responsive Mini
  • As it turns out Apple has put almost no effort into improving the Mini at all
  • For my use, and basic computing the Mac mini woks very well I most likely would not use it for anything strenuous
  • The Mac Mini in its shipped form is brutally slow, I was ready to bail after a day

Reviews around size (4.16 of 5)

  • I knew it would have limits, but the speed difference was so dramatic, I returned it a few days later... and bought their middle configuration, which costs $200 more, which nearly doubles the CPU speed to 2.6 Ghz... and doubles the hard drive size from 500GB to 1TB (1000 GB)... but more importantly, it doubles the RAM to 8GB.
  • My honest opinion, if you love MAC`s and the way they operate and there filing system, the UNIX kernal, or maybe your a dev guy just starting out BUY A WINDOWS LAPTOP AND PUT LINUX UBUNTU ON IT!
  • Love the size and sleekness of its design and of course its performance
  • MacMini's are a nice size, but haven't been updated since 2014.

Reviews around product (4.13 of 5)

  • I'm surprised Apple has obsolete products sold at premium product's prices
  • I thank the Apple overlords for a great product despite the RAM problems however
  • This is an unbelievable product design error by Apple that has had a serious negative impact on sales of 2014 mac minis.
  • I have run out of patience with Apple and can no longer endorse or recommend their products after the frustrations I've faced
  • The Apple Support employee then told me he would never recommend this product to anyone who could afford the 2.6 GZ, 8GB RAM option

Reviews around ram (4.12 of 5)

  • The Un-upgradable RAM is a bane
  • One thing that I read on criticisms of this current model is no upgradeable RAM
  • Quite stylish as well.- 8GB is fine, I use LogiProX and Gband for mixing and recording music, and have all many other apps open at the same time no lag no problems.- I was concerned about the memory usage and even the apps that tell you you have very little ram available left aren't telling you the whole story

  • User upgradable RAM, HDD, and external GPU support could have made this a much longer lasting machine.

Reviews around price (4.05 of 5)

  • Don't buy this if you want a fast machine that you can upgrade, but do if you want a reasonably fast Mac for a really good price.
  • It's lightning fast, tiny in size and was priced JUST right!
  • I think the price is a little steep for what we get, but I knew the price and the specs up front,
  • Best Buy to try and purchase one because of the great price, & the guy didn't even know what I was talking about
  • If you want a base model version, you can replace the hdd on this all you need is a torx t6 screw (lets be honest, if you are changing anything in a mac mini you are already watching some tutorial video and probably had to get special tools anyways, so a torn t6 is really not that uncommon). The only complaint I have and will have is the price of ram and the 5400rpm drives still being used in ALL computers and consoles

Reviews around performance (3.82 of 5)

  • Really poor performance
  • Love the size and sleekness of its design and of course its performance
  • Memory is no longer upgradable - the best way to improve performance of an aging Mac
  • Performance is smooth when running just XCode and an iPhone emulator
  • but I'm still confused as to what happened there.

  • However as my budget had decreased, I decided to go with the less costly Mac mini.
  • This one is a replacement for the Mac mini which did not work
  • Yosemite, perhaps the best Mac OS version ever makes the Mini even more enjoyable to use
  • This Mac mini packs the power of the strongest macs on the market for a fraction of the cost.
  • The Mac Mini in its shipped form is brutally slow, I was ready to bail after a day

Reviews around machine (3.11 of 5)

  • It started out as a very slow machine in 2005, then became an okay performing machine in 2009, and later a pretty nice machine in 2012
  • (Late 2014) ) is slow as molasses and cripples this machine as a whole
  • The machine received a second thunderbolt 2 port and lost its Firewire 800 port

Reviews around tb (1.69 of 5)

  • The mini is a great computer, but I ordered this one with a 1TB hard drive
  • I was concerned about the 1TB 5400RPM hard drive because I've been using SSDs since they went mainstream a few years
  • For the 2.6 GHz model, I replaced the 1 TB hard drive with a Crucial MX 200 512 GB SSD drive to improve the speed.
  • The 1TB of storage is enough (for now). The Mac Mini is easy to tote around, just unplug my power cable, HDMI, and pack those and my computer into my bag
  • It has the 2.6 ghz Dual Core Haswell processor with 8 gb of RAM at 1600 MHz, Intel Iris graphics and a 5400 rpm 1 TB hard drive

  • My honest opinion, if you love MAC`s and the way they operate and there filing system, the UNIX kernal, or maybe your a dev guy just starting out BUY A WINDOWS LAPTOP AND PUT LINUX UBUNTU ON IT!
  • Well, I purchased a small form factor PC, just to see if I wanted to switch to PC for this generation, and despite its superior hardware and blazingly powerful graphics, Windows is the devil
  • We all know that Windows PCs get very slow over time and have many virus and malware problems that get by security software
  • Actually, with the exception of my dad's PC (who is a stubborn Windows user), all of the computers in our house are either real Macs or Hackintoshes.
  • I thought I would give it a try because I am tired of Windows machines and their problems

  • " LED monitor (separate review) and old Logitech keyboard.
  • I should have paid more attention to those negative reviews, considering most of them complained about speed.
  • After all, the Amazon reviews were pretty good, with a low percentage of negative reviews
  • I read all the negative reviews from Amazon and many other websites about the new Mac Mini

  • The machine received a second thunderbolt 2 port and lost its Firewire 800 port
  • However, I've finally decided to hitch my wagon to a different horse when it's time to replace this computer, which might be now if I can't get this stupid HDMI port to work again.
