Reviews around size (5.00 of 5)

  • I can fit 6 good-sized windows on the screen at a time without any overlap.
  • Being able to put 2 windows side by side at a reasonable size is amazing
  • I use this display with my Mac Book air as display and docking station with chargerIt works perfectly for meI love the size, sharpness and convenience

Reviews around quality (4.12 of 5)

  • Well designed, easy to install with my MAC, and visual quality is stunning
  • The build quality of the monitor with the metal base and minimalistic design are also aesthetically better
  • The sound quality is very good, better than most built -in monitor speakers from other brands.
  • But this monitor is not designed for that, so you'll need a stack of books or some other way of rigging it to stay upright, as the base hangs out to the side.- the glare can be annoying as they are good reflectors of light sources, such as a window
  • It's kind of sad because I like the quality of Apple products and want to find an Apple monitor that I like.

Reviews around design (4.03 of 5)

  • It was designed for a specific use and it is an excellent product, beautiful design, that works flawlessly for me.
  • So to this I feel Apple has done a good job, at creating yet another product that "makes sense" -- something that users may find that it is a good design -- either by the left brain or the right brain
  • It was designed for a specific use and it is an excellent product, beautiful design, that works flawlessly for me.
  • I hate the design, but Apple simply won't get away from it
  • But this monitor is not designed for that, so you'll need a stack of books or some other way of rigging it to stay upright, as the base hangs out to the side.- the glare can be annoying as they are good reflectors of light sources, such as a window

  • I took of 1 star for this as I think it would have been a better product if it had backward
  • It was designed for a specific use and it is an excellent product, beautiful design, that works flawlessly for me.
  • I cannot begin to tell you what a terrific product this 27" Thunderbolt Display is, but again, it is Apple
  • This is one complaint, about this monitor as well as all Apple products I own, (5 total
  • This is one of the worst apple product so far, i know more will come because job is gone

Reviews around resolution (3.81 of 5)

  • It seems putting anything on the glass causes a poor resolution
  • The screen size is perfect for my desk, and the resolution is great (although it makes the text size a little small--to fix this, I moved the monitor a little closer so I could see it better). The built-in speakers are a little weak, but I already have external speakers that I use
  • I feel like it is missing some modern features for a $1000 monitor, for one the resolution is pretty bad when its sitting next to a retina MBP's display, for another it still doesn't have any USB 3.0 ports, which is a huge bummer
  • Very quick response, great resolution and good color saturation
  • using with desktop imac will provide better resolution than with apple mac laptop, but both are excellent... certainly the best alternative for having an external 27" display on your macbook

Reviews around feature (3.75 of 5)

  • But, If the display did have USB 3.0 support, it would be a really great feature
  • It is a very helpful feature as I work from home a lot and need the dual screen feature.
  • This is a nice feature, because it keeps the cabling neat, but still allows me to connect the power and thunderbolt cables to my 2011 Macbook Air, which has the Mag-safe Cable Port and Thunderbolt ports on opposite sides of the computer
  • But this monitor is not designed for that, so you'll need a stack of books or some other way of rigging it to stay upright, as the base hangs out to the side.- the glare can be annoying as they are good reflectors of light sources, such as a window
  • The Apple Thunderbolt Display may be starting to show its age after several years on the market but it remains a gorgeous display with a number of useful features that help justify its extremely high price point.

Reviews around sound (3.61 of 5)

  • Pros: good display (colors, brightness, etc), very good sound from a display
  • It's totally quiet, has excellent sound for a flat screen display and has a wide viewing angle so that I can always tilt it to an angle where reflections aren't objectionable.
  • The display is razor sharp, the sound is good, and the USB, firewire and thunderbolt ports are great.
  • Puts up a large display for these old eyes and the sound is great.
  • Second, even though the monitor is quite thick by today's standards, the sound coming out of it absolutely sucks.

Reviews around usb (3.57 of 5)

  • the sound is tremendous, the built in webcam is great, the powered USB ports that work while your computer isn't hooked up are awesome
  • INADEQUATE USB PORTSThere are 3 USB ports on the back of the display, which isn't enough for the real world
  • The display is razor sharp, the sound is good, and the USB, firewire and thunderbolt ports are great.
  • However, although my MacBook Pro (which I bought in the same order as the display) has USB 3.0 ports, the Display only has USB 2.0 ports, not not enough of them
  • But as for the docking station part of this product, it's disappointing to pay this much only to have to pay even more to get decent audio and enough USB ports

Reviews around addition (3.50 of 5)

  • It is a pricey addition to my growing family of Apple products, but worth it, and one of my very favorites.
  • The resolution on this monitor is excellent, and the overall design is very classy - a nice addition to a neat office
  • But this monitor is not designed for that, so you'll need a stack of books or some other way of rigging it to stay upright, as the base hangs out to the side.- the glare can be annoying as they are good reflectors of light sources, such as a window
  • This is inexcusable as that makes the Thunderbolt port on this device doesn't have the same features as every other Thunderbolt display when it comes to using DisplayPort devices.

Reviews around screen (3.30 of 5)

  • I've tried to find solutions, but because glass sits in front of the actual display it's not a simple as an anti-glare screen protector
  • Can anyone recommend a replacement screen of the same quality with Thunderbolt?
  • I'll be using the monitor for day trading, it's nice to have the large bright screen to view the detailed transactions.
  • Many other 27" screen available have a resolution of 1920x1080
  • Also, because they haven't put out a new thunderbolt in years, the screen is much dimmer than any imac put out since 2012 (at least)

Reviews around glare (1.49 of 5)

  • This improves the glare
  • I opened up the shades on a window just to the right and behind me and the glare is not that bad
  • But this monitor is not designed for that, so you'll need a stack of books or some other way of rigging it to stay upright, as the base hangs out to the side.- the glare can be annoying as they are good reflectors of light sources, such as a window
  • The glare does not bother me at all
  • But this monitor is not designed for that, so you'll need a stack of books or some other way of rigging it to stay upright, as the base hangs out to the side.- the glare can be annoying as they are good reflectors of light sources, such as a window

Reviews around drive (1.47 of 5)

  • I have spent hours on the phone with them and they are giving me "solutions" like erase my hard drive and reinstall the operating system; they insist that there is nothing wrong with the product
  • The thunderbolt is fast enough to transfer everything, video, audio, network, usb, external hard drive drive
  • In addition, there was an e-sata cable for the external hard drive.
  • First apple blamed my USB cables (pulled them out); next my firewire 800 connection (external hard drives (pulled them out); now the thunderbolt display has no connections in it and STILL fails to finish booting into a login prompt.
  • I don't do any gaming, mostly just photography and the Intel graphics adapter does well driving the display for my applications

Reviews around star (1.38 of 5)

  • I can't quite give it a 5 star rating because of 2 reasons -- I knocked off 1/2 star for lack of USB 3.0 support, and the 1/2 a star for the glossy screen
  • This is inexcusable as that makes the Thunderbolt port on this device doesn't have the same features as every other Thunderbolt display when it comes to using DisplayPort devices.
  • One star knocked off because the design of the display is a little outdated now, with the slim look of all the iMac displays
  • I took off one star because it doesn't provide a wide color gamut, but I really do love the monitor
  • But this monitor is not designed for that, so you'll need a stack of books or some other way of rigging it to stay upright, as the base hangs out to the side.- the glare can be annoying as they are good reflectors of light sources, such as a window

Reviews around connect (1.00 of 5)

  • Evidently louder or worse when connected to power a Retina MacBook Pro, less noisier when connected to power a MacBook Air
  • This may not be a problem for some people, but if you have an external hard drive connected, a Lightning cable for new iPhones/iPods, and a printer, you will find yourself swapping cables often

Reviews around way (1.00 of 5)

  • I swear that my laptop behaved this way both when running Mountain Lion and Windows 7 x64, but others disagree, and say that, at least on Mt. Lion, they do NOT have this problem.3. Limited connectivity.
  • But this monitor is not designed for that, so you'll need a stack of books or some other way of rigging it to stay upright, as the base hangs out to the side.- the glare can be annoying as they are good reflectors of light sources, such as a window
  • There are solutions available for audio-out using USB or Bluetooth, so there are ways around the problem
  • This is inexcusable as that makes the Thunderbolt port on this device doesn't have the same features as every other Thunderbolt display when it comes to using DisplayPort devices.
