Find it hard to believe that apple would sell junk like this but who knows?

Having tried a variety of other brands over the years, I have settled on genuine Apple cables being without a question the best and probably not all that much more expensive in the long run.

Like other reviewers mentioned it has unique smell and the cable has a chalky residue on it which wipes off but was expecting an authentic Apple made cable.
