The new kit worked as advertised, and it was much easier to clone my existing HDD to the new SSD without having to exit Windows
Seems to be no way to only clone the 398 gig C: drive and ignore the empty E: drive
I used this product to clone my laptop hdd to a new Samsung SSD 840 pro, and it worked as advertised, Im giving it 3 stars because the Samsung cloning software could not detect the drive if connected to a USB 3 port, I had to used the slow USB 2 instead
IMO, this is also false advertising as far as rebate process is concerned
Worked as advertised: upgraded a Windows desktop with 256 GB SSD to a 1 TB SSD.
cloned hard drive works, except that Windows Update no longer works
In short, the upgrade kit works great and is easy to use, but limits your options if you want to make adjustments yourself; manual adjustments might be difficult if you are not computer savvy.
The Apricorn EZGig software works well and has been well maintained
Thanks to this $19 kit, I now have my 500 GB hard drive working perfectly and it has EVERYTHING copied over from the old drive
The Apricorn EZGig software works well and has been well maintained
It worked in the legacy USB 2.0 port, but at a far reduced speed.
This software is garbage, The USB to SATA drive works but forget cloning any drive/OS with the software
I connected the cable to my new drive, I plugged that in to the USB port (USB 2.0 is preferred, of course).
The USB 2.0 isn't fast but it gains it back in compatability
and I'm thinking that usb 3.0 backups might make the purchase worthwhile, even if the old SATAWire 2.0 still works great for cloning 500Gb hard drives to 500Gb SSDs!
If your cloning a hard drive to an SSD use this product
Afterward, I swapped the drives to make sure is was a perfect bootable clone drive and everything worked perfectly.
This made a flawless clone of my old hard drive in almost no time at all
Plugged in the new hard drive (Seagate Momentous XT hybrid 500 GB), plugged the USB into the computer and had a perfect clone of my old HDD in a little over 28 minutes
The software makes cloning a hard drive (even to a larger hard drive) a breeze.
had to get update from dev at apricrn, real nice e-mailed right back, great software , it works wonderful, i'm using with windows 8 pro
Seems to be no way to only clone the 398 gig C: drive and ignore the empty E: drive
We'll see if it shows up.3 stars instead of 5, because of the frustrating rebate experience overall
UPDATE 8/23 -- just received an email that the $10 rebate that was submitted was rejected:Thank you for your submission for the $25:A25-PL128-1000,A25-3PL128-1000,ADT-3PL128-3000
Apricorn is completely dishonest refused to honor $10 rebate despite following all the steps described and attaching UPC code that was on the package (claimed that it was not original UPC
Worked first try cloning to a Crucial BX100 SSD on an HP Envy 15t quad laptop (Acronis True Image software used).
Seems to be no way to only clone the 398 gig C: drive and ignore the empty E: drive
Besides the slow detection rate by the computer it works as expected, couldn't ask for anything else really.
Seems to be no way to only clone the 398 gig C: drive and ignore the empty E: drive
Symptoms include Failure to detect device at all; detection of device, but not the drive; hang on shutdown; hang on start-up (when connected); random disconnections
Took about 30 minutes to get everything ready to go, then about an hour to transfer everything on my old, full 120GB drive to a nice new 640GB drive
It took a little over an hour and a half to clone my existing laptop hard drive (including loading up the Apricorn software), which was 140 GB worth of data.
I just cloned and replaced a slow 500 GB laptop hard drive with a lightning-fast Crucial m4 256 GB solid state hard drive (SSD)
I bought a 320G hard drive, but I only have 280G available.
When I used it to swap out my old 200 GB hard drive for a fast, new Samsung 250 GB SSD , everything work great
If you're going from a smaller drive to a larger drive - make sure to go into advanced options and make adjustments in your OS/Recovery/C drive etc... not hard and everything works fine!!
If you are a Mac user the CD is pretty much useless as it will only point you to the website for SuperDuper which can be downloaded for free
but if known the slow transfer rate would have burned a CD and saved the money
I first tried to run the program in Windows (Windows 7, 64 bit), but ended up burning a CD and booting into the program instead.
Nothing to hook up to power, just plug the drive into the adapter and the the USBplug into the port on the laptop, run the CD and youa re good to go.
