cpuThe stuff that comes with the cpu is good when you first put it on, but tends to work less effectively over time, so I replaced the thermalCompound with this and it made A world of difference

Arctic MX-4 works wonders, and the included spatula thingy was useful for spreading on small laptop GPU and CPU dies without blurting paste all over the motherboard.

With the MX-4 it seems like average temperatures have dropped 3-5C, and under high load comparatively around 10C. Getting the new paste on is fairly straightforward, and having no cure time means you don't have to wonder if you got it right the first time

During moving, heat sink became detached from processor in desktop computer.
After I removed the original dried up paste (alcohol and paper towel), cleaned up the heat sink, and applied this new paste, my laptop now runs at 41 C idle and 74 C under load
