If you're the kind that wants to buy peace of mind, don't necessarily need accurate recordings, and will not be manually checking your cameras (AND need fairly easy setup), then buy it... but this does not seem worth it to me at all.

I got this on a lightning deal for a pretty good price, but unfortunately the timer on the deal didn't allow me to do my due diligence in researching this product

For such a steep price tag, the thing better work without too many hiccups

Overall the two main important features was to have a good picture and reliable use of the phone app

I bought 5 cameras and 2 of them give me a very poor picture

It was extremely easy to set up and the picture is clear (not crystal clear but clear enough to serve my purposes-we’ve has 3 hit and runs in front of our house and have had a few items stolen)

Then after a power outage, it took support over two months and about 20 some tech support messages along with 2 tech support phone calls (with them taking over my computer to see for themselves on one of the phone calls, maybe should have done that first instead of last?) to finally replace the base station.

I've read through tech support forums saying this is common with the Pro version but not for the original (which I have.)The scheduling software is easy to use.

Two of my 5 camera's kill the batteries every two days, and they are one year old

I still have 2 more, that drain batteries after a couple of weeks

Except that the 80% batteries they come in with would die after 1-2 days of operation

I can pull the cameras up on my phone and watch live videos of what's going on around my house (however, this does drain the batteries every time you do this) or watch the saved videos in the library, which are 10 second clips

I spoke to a guy who had no clue what he was talking about, wasted my time

I setup the cameras in various positions(garage, back door, front door) but the motion detection was very slow to initiate recording.

THE MOTION DETECTION OF THESE CAMERAS IS BASICALLY USELESS

The motion detection has a 2 second delay before it records, so you end up with "backs of heads" and people almost out of frame

The negatives are mostly slight except the one problem, motion detection lag.

Motion detection won't work on half the cameras so it never records anything

The cameras will commonly disconnect from the base station and show "offline" you can link them up again easily but the known problem is they lose connectivity within a day or two and will completely drain the battery if you have it set to record

The failures were all A known problem as found on Netgear message boards and the Netgear chat agent told me the problem was known and documented yet they refused to exchange the camera that fell outside of the warranty

This is a known problem with this model.

Returning and disappointed I lost an hour of my life setting this up
