The units were level, plugged into the wall by themselves, and well over 10 inches away from anything that would have upset the internal fuse

This unit has a very crappy thermal fuse.

The internal thermal fuse has blown

Just remember to keep it in open space not too close to the wall or anything that will burn the fuse out from what I read.
