It was only when I listened to the recorded output that I gained respect for the quality of it)*USB sound interface works with PC and the ipad as I understand it
My SM-58 sounded nice and clean using this device when recording into the computer.
I can understand that this is an inexpensive product and that I should expect noise, but not irregular artifacts like these that really stand out when you have a quiet recording
It is immediately recognized by windows and provides excellent sound and recording quality
In those cases I would recommend recording by USB to a computer as well as to the camera
So maybe I feel it's a 3-star for people who wanted reliability and good gain control
It has the 1/4" or XLR combo inputs, signal and clip indicators, and gain controls on the front
There is one small issue however, many SLR cameras do not have on-screen levels, and use Auto Gain Control (AGC), which makes it difficult to configure
Outside of the functionality of it, the dual pre is compact and ruggedly built, with great controls and just the right amount of connections and options

I use it as a preamp to power my AT875R Short Shotgun Microphone and it works great
This is a cheap and sturdy preamp that beginners or intermediate experienced people can use
I am using this preamp to boost the output of my Novation Twitch, a purpose for which it was never intended
I recommend it to anybody who's starting their recording career or even just as a hobby, or even to a pro who's looking for an affordable traveling preamp.
so I wouldn't have to use a USB mic, but I ended up with a great preamp at an awesome price
It is hard to imagine how an otherwise very well-built unit could have such a fundamental design flaw, yet it does.
The built-in headphone jack is nice to have some monitoring as well, since my t2i doesn't have a headphone out
well built, plug n play, works with my cubase or other recording software, and all at a fantastic price A+++++
These have been talked about in other reviews, be careful about these if you're using the unit to ride your levels during a recording.*No mounting options, it would be super sweet if this guy had a tripod mount built in on the bottom*The battery compartment is retarded, extremely difficult to get a battery in and out, and it never quite closes right

If you are looking for a small, portable, reliable digital interface for live performance and recording digitally to your computer, THIS is the one!ART Tube MP USB Project Series Tube Microphone Preamp With USB
I have now switched over to a more expensive interface and its like night and day

The ART interfaced surpassed the old interface in every category.
This is inconvenient and makes the unit look ugly, since the battery is always sticking out...because if I push it in, well, that's just not an option
The USB line in is plug & play, the unit is noise-free, and the clean gain it adds to my condenser mics makes for clear recordings with little to no room noise, even without ideal sound isolation.

I don't believe that the unit itself adds any significant distortion to the sound, and you will essentially be limited only by the quality of your microphones
