if i could find a vpn worth a merde i would work on getting a tls p2p vpn on port 443 but vpns have so many problems - of the 6 i have worked with nordvpn was the best and not a bad price at 75 bucks for 2 years
This router does everything you could want at a good price
For a state of the art dual-band AC router, the price was very reasonable.
However, for most users will be an excellent router, with great wifi coverage and very good price.
Love this router, the performance is great at a reasonable price.
I give it 4 stars only because it lacks some features on the more expensive routers I feel like the router could have handled like the TrendMicro suite and the security review (which actually be a Merlin firmware function) and there is no Merlin firmware for it
it has plenty of great features for the average home user
Just irritates me they left such a basic feature off, not like it is a $40 router
Unfortunately it does not support some advanced features like Print Server support, even after firmware update
Very, very, very easy setup, great web interface and very useful features like VPN and AiCloud
Cox kept blaming my slow and interrupted internet performance on my router.
This Asus router setup was refreshing and the performance is great as well
Here is my use case for this router:I am replacing a ten-year old D-Link WBR-1310 router for my in-laws, who got predictably horrible performance in their split level ranch house
I still got much better performance than with my previous router that was a 100mbps
Performance wise, its a good upgrade from my old Netgear router.
Setup was easy, and it had the option for a guest network.
When our security system messed with our other router system, this was a super easy setup, only took 10 minutes, if that and has not had any issues with our security system
Easy setup and a vast difference in speed from my prior router.
Setup was simple enough, but within the first day of being connected, I lost the 5G connection
It has a nice, easy setup and fairly intuitive interface
I have a 1500 square foot home and get good coverage throughout the house and in my backyard
Router has excellent coverage (my home had plaster walls - difficult for wifi), Features VPN capability, security features, a lot of flexibility as far as how you can configure it
The router does have excellent signal strength and coverage throughout the house.
Great router - works perfect and provides great coverage for all of our
Conclusion:Very good coverage and speed for small house or apartment
The dual band works great from the front of our house and connects all the way to the back
Love the Dual Band router, easy to connect and works super fast all across the house.
This is a dual band wireless router that supports 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies.
I know there are a lot of other expensive AC dual-band routers as well but this one serves its purpose for a small to mid-size apartments at an much more reasonable price.
The dual band works great from the front of our house and connects all the way to the back
Since then I've had no problems and it's a great product for the price
I bought this product because it offered two bands, but it's just too unreliable to use both...
I love Asus product and have always had good luck with them
Downsides were that the product was very hard to actually get up and running
I will recommend this product to a heavy user, because only at my household, we have more than 20 devices that need internet, and they all manage to work great with this Asus Router.
I used to use a $30 tplink router until I found out yesterday that my slow internet speed is not due to ISP but the router
Got this router after an old one died and the backup was dropping connections, despite being great speed
My laptop should max out at 433 Mb/s on wireless, but other factors can affect the actual speed (other devices using the router, hard drive speeds, etc...)
My old router was so old it was slowing down internet access speed
If you are going from a stock router from your ISP, this will fix those connection issues and speed related issues
Great so far with good 2g range and about the 5ghz range you'd expect in a long house with lots of walls in the way of the signal
5G is unstable, either becomes slow or disappears from wifi list
The 5g is seriously lacking in distance but that is also a factor of placement and distance, but its not any better than any of the others that I have used
really good 2.4g range and speed with 10 devices running at same time but for 5
I switched to this and within minutes I am getting strong 5g signal throughout the house
Currently I have 19 devices throughout my house ( I know o_O) and have had zero connectivity issues for two weeks
Setup was easy and fast, range exceeds the old N but not by much but the transfer
My old router constantly had to be rebooted, this one has worked flawlessly since I hooked it up, I run several smart devices of this router and haven't had any connectivity issues.
Roku may have their own problem but now Macbook pro, iphone are also having 5Ghz connectivity issues
Setup was easy and fast, range exceeds the old N but not by much but the transfer
Tested with 5GHz only (Comcast, speed over Ethernet cable is about 105 Mbps peak.)5 - 15 ft away: Speed in the living room, near the router, nothing in between, is about 70-75 Mbps.20 - 30 ft away: In the kitchen area, nothing in between, speed drops pretty quickly to about 45-54 Mbps.30 ft +: In the bed room and bathroom area, behind at least one wall and a door, Speed is slower but very stable useable (two HD video streams), about 35-38 Mbps
We typically have a minimum of 11 devices hooked up to the wireless at all times and can still stream video no problem.

The dual-band is amazing and I've had great coverage all over my home, as well as quick D/U speeds on my mobile devices.
Internet has been seamlessly fast, no interruptions while videos or issues with conference calls.
But, that's not such a huge ordeal that it's worth knocking a star
I give it 4 stars only because it lacks some features on the more expensive routers I feel like the router could have handled like the TrendMicro suite and the security review (which actually be a Merlin firmware function) and there is no Merlin firmware for it
So for now I do all wireless but speeds are just fine so 4 stars.
However, when using the 5GHz, the range is VERY poor, -80dBm with 2 walls in between at any point (less than 10 meters/33 feet distance), and hence my 4 stars
Amazon customer service was very helpful in resolving this after the fact as unfortunately happened here, and I give them a solid 5 stars for their customer service.
They can claim on the phone anything is a software issue and then just start asking for money for set up fee's or deny warranty and this was on something received the same day
Setup was easy and fast, range exceeds the old N but not by much but the transfer
The problem is that they will not honor their 2 year warranty
but the range isn't as great as I would've imagined

Usually I see a significant drop with the 2.4 GHz trying to surf with the tablet or the phone in my bedroom
4 hours straight of Bob Ross and there was no intermittent network drops
Only complaint is that is has dropped 5Ghz a couple of times
Had we not been monitoring it we never would have noticed as when the 5.0 dropped on the AC88U (you could not even see the SSID being broadcast) it would fail over to this unit
I can play mp4 video files that are dropped on the USB drive by simply going into Windows Explorer, dragging the file to an open tab on CHROME and even casting it to my Chromecast by clicking on the plug in
Very happy with this, I like ASUS stuff in general, and this is in the "sweet spot" of value.
Coverage is good in a tri-level home with no dead spots.
much meters of my residents can reach but a few tough spots such as living room can't get a definitive transmission during calls or video calls
Also since my apartment is not large this router provided great coverage and all the dead spots I had with my previous router govt very well covered with this

All you have to do is plug a hard drive and enjoy your content anywhere
The dual-band is amazing and I've had great coverage all over my home, as well as quick D/U speeds on my mobile devices.
But the hard drive is older and I'm not very good with configuration.
Didn't test: guest network (2.4 GHz only).USB Drive:Usable, but as many have noted
(hello D-Link...), the ASUS router's USB jack works just fine for plugging in a portable USB drive to serve an an informal NAS drive for my home to store music and video files for playback via Windows networking
You will now be disconnected from RT-ACRH13.To access the settings of RT-ACRH13, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number
If you don't care about ipv6 connectivity this is a good router, and it would probably work with a static IP, but if you have regular residential Comcast internet, you aren't getting ipv6
Second, my wired interface's IP address and port number should be unchanged
I returned the Norton cube because I couldn’t configure local ip’s to work with all my static ip’s
For instance, if you decide to set a static IP for a device, once you click save the "applying changes" takes more than a minute, at which time EVERY device including hardwired devices lose connectivity to the router
