Reviews around value (5.00 of 5)

  • Excellent value for the money and works perfectly for my intended applications.
  • Love Asus - great power, value and reliabilty - time will tell on this new model.
  • Yes, the battery life is shorter than some others and it does get a little hot while gaming, but you still get a really good value with all the other stuff.
  • This is my first Asus laptop and so far I think this is an excellent value
  • Pros:+Great value for money, i7 8550u performs around 5% worse than i7 7700hq in all core situations while consuming MUCH less power (15W vs 45W)

Reviews around speed (5.00 of 5)

  • Eronomics are are as important to me as speed and other functionality.
  • Speed is good, display is great, the feel of the keyboard is perfect
  • This Intel CPU is quadcore, has excellent low clock speeds, and hasn't gotten over 41-42 Centigrade during all of this stressing
  • I;m happy to say that the machine runs extremely cool under load and the speed is outstanding.

Reviews around speaker (5.00 of 5)

  • The speakers are good enough to be from a TV.-Again, I emphasize that the keyboard is rather far set into the chassis, and it really isn't comfortable
  • Never heard of it before; it does occasionally throttle for a second, but not for extended periods even while under the same load.-The speakers are awesome
  • The single thread speeds and clockspeed of the i7 8550u are faster than i7 700hq though so it feels extremely snappy when doing normal stuff like word/powerpoint/web browsing (single core applications)+GTX 1050 just makes it even better+IO selection is great as long as you don't rely on thunderbolt.+Decent screen on the IPS model(core i7 8th gen)+++Very good and loud speakers which do not peak at all even when playing opera music
  • The speakers seem rather quiet, but I haven't tested them at all, so I'm probably mistaken about hat.4 stars for first impressions
  • Not as good as macbook pro 2017 speakers but still way better than most windows laptops.+Heat is exhausted out the sides which are some distance away from the keyboard so the keyboard does not get hot.+keyboard is nice to type on and I could easily get up to 100wpm.+only a few bloatware, 10mins of uninstallation should do the trickCons:-VERY bad battery life even with the more efficient i7 8550u, getting around 4.5 hours of normal web browsing on a full charge

Reviews around build (5.00 of 5)

  • Great quality build at a nice price
  • Pros========-great performance-good price/performance ratio-excellent build quality-excellent weight/thickness vs
  • I would not describe the build as sturdy, but it is certainly not flimsy either

Reviews around power (4.16 of 5)

  • Love Asus - great power, value and reliabilty - time will tell on this new model.
  • High functioning, lightweight, beautiful screen, has enough power to play and to work
  • Power players probably won't see past 3 hours of use on battery alone, I haven't even played any games to test how power hungry the GTX 1050 is, but moderate use (just by my initial experience) probably spans into 5-6 hours, and I imagine 10-12 hours could be achieved with skilled power management and task stringency
  • I use a USB mouse (Logitech G600) and haven't had any glitches.-General I/O, system drivers, and other odds and ends are nicely hands off

Reviews around machine (4.07 of 5)

  • The machine gets hotter as time passes, but dual fan works very well to cool down effectively
  • I;m happy to say that the machine runs extremely cool under load and the speed is outstanding.
  • The machine gets hotter as time passes, but dual fan works very well to cool down effectively
  • Per Asus support, this laptop does NOT support video from the USB-C even though it clearly states in the listing that is does
  • Thanks for building a good machine, ASUS!Original review

Reviews around audio (4.03 of 5)

  • This unit has sufficient NVIDIA drivers, including GeForce Experience to get to the most recent drivers for the 1050; audio is good to go, wireless/bluetooth, etc etc
  • I use a USB mouse (Logitech G600) and haven't had any glitches.-General I/O, system drivers, and other odds and ends are nicely hands off
  • The audio is excellent, not sure what people are going on about, for a laptop, the sound is rich, bass filled and loud, not tinny or shallow like most
  • The onboard audio is very good in general, and I don't know if I'd be able to tell the difference between it and my desktop SoundBlaster ZXR unless they were side by side with identical headphones
  • Probably some of the best audio I've gotten a chance to own in a laptop

Reviews around mouse (3.86 of 5)

  • I believe that the right mouse button issue is because the button is also a touch surface and is not disabled when the button is pushed as it should be (I've had this issue with other laptops)
  • A wireless mouse is necessary to enjoy everything this laptop has to offer.
  • This is a non touch screen in case you want that feature, I feel using a mouse is a lot more efficient than poking at the screen.
  • I use a USB mouse (Logitech G600) and haven't had any glitches.-General I/O, system drivers, and other odds and ends are nicely hands off

Reviews around quality (3.61 of 5)

  • They often have terrible quality control from manufactures, they either overheat or perform poorly, and the batteries run dry like the Sahara
  • With all the LIVE streams and training we do, the grainy quality of this $1 camera may be enough to return the product.
  • Also annoying is how absolutely batsh*t crazy the engineering was on the construction of this
  • The quality of build is nice with aluminum top and keyboard surfaces, and the screen is noticeably better than others I have checked out.
  • This means that sound quality is fine, if a little quiet on a flat surface like a desk

Reviews around performance (3.37 of 5)

  • In general terms, it is a good Laptop, good performance, portable (even in this 17.3" model), good storage capacity,
  • USB-C is gen 1 and does not support this
  • The MX150 in a lot of models while more powerful than just running the integrated intel graphics and is roughly half as powerful real life performance as the 1050
  • I think it will difficult to find better performance and features at this price point
  • The laptop work very well, excellent performance and video quality

Reviews around price (3.22 of 5)

  • I searched hard for a deal on a fast laptop, and this one was an especially right price for the features it offers.
  • USB-C is gen 1 and does not support this
  • Possibly upgrade to 32gb of memory at some point when the prices aren't crazy (thank you BC
  • Per Asus support, this laptop does NOT support video from the USB-C even though it clearly states in the listing that is does
  • I didn't found anything like this model for better price

Reviews around computer (2.71 of 5)

  • OFF:I thermal tested the computer by stressing the i7 with [email protected], and on 100% load, the processor boosts up to 3.8ghz
  • Also annoying is how absolutely batsh*t crazy the engineering was on the construction of this
  • Finally, while I was away for the long weekend after the 4th of July the OS updated itself (it seems nearly impossible to stop that from happening with Win 10) and the computer became totally unstable.
  • Attractive computer, they copied the Apple Macbook look on the keyboard and trackpad.
  • Per Asus support, this laptop does NOT support video from the USB-C even though it clearly states in the listing that is does

Reviews around drive (1.38 of 5)

  • I'd love to put an M2 1tb and a SSD data drive into this baby
  • It has a 1Tb standard hard drive which is where I save my files
  • Last I checked, a faulty motherboard doesn't wipe the hard drive.
  • Best deal for a 8th Gen i7 laptop with 256 SSD and high speed 1 tb hard drives
  • The hybrid hard drive makes booting quick, you have to be aware of installing programs to get them to install to the second part for drive since the SSD part is not huge you could fill it up quickly.

Reviews around issue (1.00 of 5)

  • I have not had any overheating issues at all even during long game play
  • My only issue, which others have mentioned, is the battery drains very fast when this is not plugged in, it was almost dead after 3 hours
  • I guess.-Herein lay my first issue, regarding the OS; there is no disk drive on this model
