Origins is filled with uninspired and repetitive boss fights, bland level design, pointless gameplay additions that offer nothing, and nerfed mechanics
Arkham Origins is a great addition to the Batman gaming world
The crime scene investigations were a nice addition and fit Batman well
That said, there are a few unnecessary gameplay additions that bring the experience down
Great story, well revamped combat, and novel, well crafted villains make this another great addition to the series
If you enjoyed Arkham Asylum or Arkham City you'll enjoy this as well.
Its not as good a game as arkham city but its probably as good as arkham asylum
Loving it just as much as Arkham Asylum and Arkham City
No where near as good as "Arkham Asylum" and "Arkham City" were
Batman Arkham Asylum released in 2009 and blew gamers away when they saw that it was not only a good game but a fantastic game, two years later the sequel Batman Arkham City was released and once again blew gamers away by being better than the first game
Troy Baker does a good job as Joker when you consider he's not just doing Joker, but specifically Mark Hamill's Joker, but whoever voices Batman just doesn't do nearly as good a job as Kevin Conroy has done.
And while they do use different voice actors for almost all of the roles, particularly that of Batman and The Joker (who for the two previous games were voiced by the great Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, respectively reprising their roles from BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES), at least Troy Baker, the new Joker, does a pretty remarkable job of giving The Joker life and something of a play on his origin
Granted there is a different voice cast, and yes if you love Mark Hamill as the joker & Kevin Conroy as B-Man you can tell and its sad they didn't do this game, however the voice cast did an amazing job in this game
I was also really worried about the changes, but, I have to say, they really did a fantastic job
The game looks good and the new voice actors for Batman and the Joker do a very fine job
That being said, the gameplay is still exceptional, and as good as Arkham City
It is filled with bugs, frame rate issues, and unreliable gameplay
Good gameplay, good story, tons more baddies to beat up
gameplay is what you would expect from an Arkham game (fun and very polished) and the story so far it's engaging, but graphically I really don't like it very
It didn't have that many new additions like the jump from Arkham Asylum to Arkham City, but it was still more of the same great gameplay.
To be fair, the graphics were pretty good to begin with, but the look of Arkham Origins could come off more as a companion DLC to Arkham City than it's own standalone (prequel) game
And this game is amazing, the graphics, the gameplay, so much better than Arkham City.
The graphics can get choppy when there is a lot going on in the game.7
It is like an arkham city extension, it's all the same but bigger, the graphics are very good and i like that Batman is always angry
Arkham Asylum gave us excellent graphics, an excellent storyline, excellent voice acting and above all else, excellent gameplay.
First off, Batman can travel around the city just as well as he could before by gliding and using his grapnel gun to zip himself to ledges and rooftops
First off, Batman can travel around the city just as well as he could before by gliding and using his grapnel gun to zip himself to ledges and rooftops
During cut scenes there's severe frame rate issues and after those you basically have to stop playing and let the area load and render without pausing the game
Sometimes in large battles the frame rate seems to slow down as well
Thugs get stuck in the walls and frame rate gets choppy
First off, Batman can travel around the city just as well as he could before by gliding and using his grapnel gun to zip himself to ledges and rooftops
It is clear that plenty of effort went into making the story and gameplay come together, as well as into the fantastic voice acting and scoring
take on all of these characters that we all grew up loving, as well as it's dark and mature story
The cut scenes and story line was as impressive and entertaining as you can imagine, the voice actors do very admirable jobs, living up to the franchise standard set by the likes of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill.
There are 4 trails you can polish your batmany-ness on: Worst Nightmare, Gotham Protector, Shadow Vigilante, and Worlds Greatest Detective
No where near as good as "Arkham Asylum" and "Arkham City" were
While its combat and travel is repetitive and Arkham City-ish, the story is absolutely enthralling, and the gameplay is still entertaining in this new setting.
Its not as good a game as arkham city but its probably as good as arkham asylum
Also, the extra costumes that you get in this game are not as good as the arkham city costumes
The city was so trashed in AC that it's kind of neat to see it in AO before whatever apocalypse came along and tore it up
take on all of these characters that we all grew up loving, as well as it's dark and mature story
First off, Batman can travel around the city just as well as he could before by gliding and using his grapnel gun to zip himself to ledges and rooftops
Still, at its current price, this game is worth a playthrough for any fans of Batman or the Arkham series in general.**UPDATE**This part of the review will focus on Arkham Origins' second story-based DLC Cold, Cold Heart, which showcases Batman's first encounter with Mr. Freeze
It is clear that plenty of effort went into making the story and gameplay come together, as well as into the fantastic voice acting and scoring
Also, the DLC for this game (Cold Cold Heart) is a must buy, I would argue that they really knocked it out of the park when it comes to the DLC
take on all of these characters that we all grew up loving, as well as it's dark and mature story
As for glitches, I encountered a few missing button prompts, and crashes, but nothing really game breaking
take on all of these characters that we all grew up loving, as well as it's dark and mature story
This game has some game breaking bugs in it that the company decided not to do anything about it because "the project is finished
Granted there is a different voice cast, and yes if you love Mark Hamill as the joker & Kevin Conroy as B-Man you can tell and its sad they didn't do this game, however the voice cast did an amazing job in this game
While Black Mask is not the real enemy of the game, the story does not focus solely on the Joker; Bane is just as much of an opponent
take on all of these characters that we all grew up loving, as well as it's dark and mature story
First off, Batman can travel around the city just as well as he could before by gliding and using his grapnel gun to zip himself to ledges and rooftops
The mission to destroy Black Mask's drug containers is just like the mission to destroy Bane's titan containers from Arkham City.9
The story didn't have a sense of urgency and many elements felt like reheated leftovers from a really good meal...not bad, but not as good as when it was fresh
Even the music for side missions (such as a drug-induced trip into Wonderland courtesy of The Mad Hatter) is great
take on all of these characters that we all grew up loving, as well as it's dark and mature story
The Mad Hatter threatens a woman with a knife and must be taken down with a reverse battering.10
The story didn't have a sense of urgency and many elements felt like reheated leftovers from a really good meal...not bad, but not as good as when it was fresh
In particular, I'd have to say that the Mad Hatter mission is my favorite, expanding on Arkham City's Mad Hatter mission, which was also my favorite in that game
In fact, it's pretty breathtaking the first time you set foot into the Gotham of Arkham
It has caused my game to freeze several times, at one point, I had to actually fight a group of enemies I had already defeated before the freeze
This was a gift for my son on Christmas he loved it came on time very good product.
I used to think that I lost so many times in my first playthrough because I wasn't familiar with the game and enemies.
but if you can get past some of the glitches or dont encounter the glitch i did then i think youll have a great time with arkham origns defenitly buy this game if your a fan of batman or the arkham series
I'm reading too much of these 'It's still good' reviews which just encourages industry to release buggy half-a**ed products like this
I recommend waiting for the developers to stop tweeting only their good reviews and eventually release a patch that fixes these game breaking glitches or buying it preowned or reduced
This game is now the reason why I will never again pre-order or buy a game upon release date, I will wait for reviews and bug/damage reports
Rating: 9.5/10For another accurate review, check out Heath T. Holland's from a day or two back--right on the money.
heck, Destructoid gave it a 3.5 in a long, albeit spiteful review
This game acts like a 'Knock-off' of the Rock Steady Arkham City, there a glitches in some of the video.
The glitches, along with many other in-game issues that aren't actually bugs but seem like half-finished missions and situations, solidify my suspicion that the game was raced to release to get ahead of the next-gen consoles' release
The glitches that I've had on my PS3 version are annoying, slowing the game to a crawl at times
So you've got a tough game with targeting issues, horrible bugs and glitches, and spotty controls
Origins definitely lacks the polish of Arkham City, but don't think it is a terrible game because of that, if you can make it through some of the annoying glitches you'll have a blast with this game
He looks like a mix of the Arkham games, and the Dark Knight movies
If you liked the previous games and are looking for good Dark Knight action, butt-kicking and amazing fights against the best set of enemies to date, then this is your game.
The Dark knight system is pretty nifty and fighting Deathstroke was a blast for me
If you liked the previous games and are looking for good Dark Knight action, butt-kicking and amazing fights against the best set of enemies to date, then this is your game.
More accurately, it's like Gotham compared to Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy
All of the other gadgets are present - smoke pellets, decryptor, explosive gel, etc. are all items that you start out with.
delivers, old favorites such as the explosive gel, the bat claw,
they are so severely handicapped (base health only, batarang, explosive gel, sonic batarang, bullet shield, zip kick, smoke
A lot of the gadgets like batarangs, batclaw, explosive gel, smoke pellets, and cryptographic sequencer return, as well as a lower tech version of the disruptor that is aimed and fired like the remote electrical charge from Arkham City, and therefore requires better aim
You can also go in using a variety of gadgets at your disposal such as the batarang, explosive gel and smoke pellets
