This thing works reliably and seems to perform better than my Alesis 3630 compressor/gate rack mount
Due to digi-tech metal master.hit and miss I guess.on the + side, I recently aquired the
BAD:-This thing is CHEAP
The fact that it cost so little makes me love this thing.
If money isn’t an issue for you and you play similar styles of music, take a look at the TCE Sentry, ISP Decimator & G Strong, MXR Smartgate and EHX Silencer, to name a few
Works exactly as advertised and has zero problems with the switch or functions, dependable and reliable.
The mute function can be a great advantage in a live aspect, but if you're looking to maximize the noise especially in a studio environment the resuction mode would be best.
The functions of threshold and decay work as expected, however, whenever this device is engaged, it produces the ugliest distortion artifact that I have ever heard
Due to digi-tech metal master.hit and miss I guess.on the + side, I recently aquired the
I am currently using this for my vocal rig to replace an expensive rack-mount dbx compressor and gate that just doesn't work properly anymore, and seems to generate noise of its own
By first impression I could tell that this pedal wasnt as great as maybe a Boss pedal, but if its plugged in properly and you use the send and return feature it works as a noise gate pretty well
This gate although being quite simple is very easy to use and doesn't kill my tone.
Doesn't cut noise as well as I had hoped, but I guess I need to spend more for a better noise gate
Also, the gate is fast and does not chop your note's attack
So it seems like the unit itself was creating signal noise
Due to digi-tech metal master.hit and miss I guess.on the + side, I recently aquired the
Thought I'd use this cheaper unit on my secondary board that has the EHX B9 organ pedal on it (that always kinda has a little organ-sounding noise going on) but quickly found through an A/B test that this one opens up more naturally (when setting it so it kills the signal that is just noise from my distortion pedals I can still play softly and have the signal come through - the EHX had a weird delay and took a lot of signal to get the gate to open up)
I bought this product to tame a noisy high gain amp for a bandmate who is just too strapped to buy a more expensive unit right now
and you think you might need one, then I highly recommend this unit
Perhaps side by side against the top competitor B**s it may not cut out as much noise but for certain it cuts out unwanted sound.
If you set the threshold in max, you will get a weak signal feeding to your amp, therefore weak sound
This means that while you're not playing, it'll block that annoying static sound your guitar and pedals make - and when you start playing, it'll lower itself so that it doesn't effect the noise of the guitar
Definitely helps to clean up the sound of palm muting, and for the price, this is a solid feeling pedal.
This device worked very well and did not impede my sound at all
if you want to play softer and then strum hard for higher attack, the decay works great for that, it just closes out your superfluous buzzing after a note is played, yet it still holds the sustain well on my big muff pi nano
The resultant distortion it adds to the sound is a loud, obnoxious buzzing that sounds like intermodulation (IM) distortion
It performs as advertised and kills the buzz of my single coil pickups, unfortunately at a high cost.

Worked for a few minutes then started buzzing and distorting the sound.

In the pedals deffense I was trying to quiet a fender stratocaster with noisy pickups (non humbucker)
but I have also used the reduction mode when my pickups were noisy
I keep it on all the time because I have a guitar with extremely noisy pickups and this does not color your tone at all
Due to digi-tech metal master.hit and miss I guess.on the + side, I recently aquired the
With guitar "IN" and pedal chain on "SEND", I can set the threshold at the minimum -- it doesn't get confused between 60hz pickup noise and noise from effects pedals then.
