I used to use a Scarlett 2i2 by Focusrite, but that started throwing up tons of errors when I switched from Win 7 to Win 10.The BEHRINGER UMC204HD works flawlessly, and was actually a few bucks less than the Scarlett.
Not sure why Behringer designed it like this, as that means only half of the pot's range is useable
Behringer's reputation is a mixed bag, and people seem to have a strong love/hate relationship with them with seemingly no middle ground
Behringer's probably not using tweaked hand-picked vatican discrete transistor virgin flux capacitors, but they will surely surpass the needs of most bedroom studio operators

While it takes some fiddling with the software to get a good balance between low latency and lack of crackling, it works as it should
Plus if you already have good software, it will compensate for the gaps in hardware if any
No noticeable lag with appropriate settings; software is pretty intuitive
But I seriously object to paying for a product which is supposed to come with "free software" and then having the manufacturer pull a bait-and-switch on me

it works fine and has good features / performance for the price – but like other Behringer products I've used, the sound quality / noise / distortion, leave me wanting a better product
if the purchase of Midas has improved their performance this much I'd say things are looking up for them
I am pretty sure that the signal will need to be low-Z (active) to get good performance out of the direct input.
The outputs to mains are TRS (balanced) and provide excellent performance.
I've been burned and wowed by purchases, so I know that Behringer, like ALL companies, has good products and bad
The build quality isn't only as good as much more expensive products, but it exceeds them

Missing the return window's on me-defective product is on Behringer who I will contact directly about a return.

Maybe - as well as with any USB interface, which is to say “within limits”.I can live and play in time with a 10 mS round trip latency
Using the UMC ASIO driver, I lowered buffers to 128 and reported round trip latency was 4.4ms.

This is not the same thing as running many VSTIs in a large project, but it shows that if tracks are frozen and load is not too heavy, that the interface has the ability to play at low round trip latency for tracking.
