Reviews around set (5.00 of 5)

  • Cons: not good direct to PA or headphones with the clean setting - sounds very artificial
  • For some reason the only usable setting is the tweed (fender), the other two have way too much gain and sound fizzy
  • The "Hi G" and "Hot" settings produce a tremendous hiss, but the clean setting is fine.
  • The clean setting makes every amp I use it with take on a Fender Twin tone, and that’s great if that’s what you want
  • I've used a few Tech21 products (including the Tri-A.C. and the Trademark 30 amplifier, which use similar modeling technology), and I generally liked the TWEED setting and not much else.

Reviews around box (5.00 of 5)

  • I like this box so much, I'm not going to bother with the Sansamp GT2.
  • If you use the box like a recording box, connect it with a XLR female cable to a mixing console or a computer
  • Works quite well as a direct box for going into the church sound system without any extra buzz, so I haven't had to use the ground lift switch
  • This box delivers a variety of voicings from your electric guitar to a PA/mixer

Reviews around work (5.00 of 5)

  • I don't play electric guitar professionally, so this works well enough for not owning a guitar amp as long as you have somewhere to output like a computer (even if you're just going through the microphone in) or a PA system
  • I was pleasantly surprised to learn the clean channel works really well with bass.
  • This pedal works well with Stratocasters and Gibson guitars with humbucking pickups
  • The GDI21 mostly works and, while it won't be confused with a $1,000 tube amp, it can be pretty useful to have around (for about 3/5 the price of a retail BOSS DS-1).

Reviews around feature (5.00 of 5)

  • The XLR balanced out is a nice feature - if your amp fails on a gig, you can run this into the board and you'll limp through with a reasonable facsimile
  • This pedal sounds really good and has great features (I especially appreciate the XLR out), but the overall flimsiness of it loses a lot of points
  • To put it another way, the only noteworthy feature of most Behringer products is their affordability, but even that has been significantly undercut by upstart Chinese clones (see Joyo, Donner, Mooer, Caline, et al), many of which are better made and better sounding at roughly the same prices
  • It's got a few amp modules on it, but the really cool feature is the ability to change the mic placement on your virtual amp!

Reviews around sansamp (5.00 of 5)

  • It does what it's supposed to do, and if you find its features handy enough to warrant the tonal upgrade to the genuine SansAmp, both companies win
  • This box works basically just like the SansAmp, so the settings will work with this as well, though note that settings are in a different order than what you'll find, so adjust your settings accordingly

Reviews around variety (5.00 of 5)

  • this is a fraction of a cost of a sans-amp, but gets a great variety of warm distortion and tones.
  • A nice variety of amps as well as settings to choose from on the way to coming up with an original sound of your own.
  • Second, the GDI21 can be used in a home studio for recording directly into an interface (with either instrument cable or XLR), and it does offer a good variety of tonal options with the mod switches and knobs.
  • If you are designing a direct box that needs to replace a guitar amp altogether in your setup, you would expect something with this number of knobs and switches to be capable of purely clean tones (and a variety thereof).

Reviews around amp (4.33 of 5)

  • Don't connect this to your solid state amp and expect it to sound good distorted
  • So this just sounds like a decent amp, it's super compact, and if you put it on your pedalboard you can feed any pedals you want into it
  • Some people even run these into the front end of a cheap solid state amp to give it a more "tube amp" feel
  • I get,,2nd the price $ 39.99 brand new where as the sans amp is well over $ 100.00 bux

Reviews around sound (3.98 of 5)

  • I use the Tweed amp setting, clean, with mic set to Classic, and with the other controls( drive, treble, bass, and level) set the same as on the TM300, the two are almost indistinguishable with only the slight difference that the GDI21 has a cleaner sound
  • Great distortion unit, several usable sounds
  • I used to use my clunky late 90's digital multi-fx for the same purpose (no DI output, though), and though I had more effects, I dislike the sound of digital drive and cab emulations from that era
  • Best used as a preamp pedal for clean sounds but limited to the TWEED setting with gain knob nearly all the way down
  • if you amp sounds bad to begin with buy a better amp

Reviews around price (3.95 of 5)

  • This device does what is says it will do and at a fantastic price.
  • I like the price and the fact that I can use to jam through a PA if so desired
  • This is an amazing little distortion pedal for a really cheap price

Reviews around product (3.61 of 5)

  • Helpful if you are aiming for low stage volume and an XLR output, though I'd recommend any Line6 product if you can dish out the extra dough.
  • The GDI21 remains a very useful product for people who can't afford a $180 Tech21 product, or maybe just want to use that type of thing once in blue moon.
  • The GDI21 probably has two main applications as an extremely affordable product (generally around $30).
  • Regardless of the real culprit, be it a shady product description, a greedy selling policy, or a not-so-smart customer, what I got is plug-and-fry
  • Other than that it's a great product and every guitarist should have it as a backup gear even they won't need it soon.

Reviews around distortion (3.61 of 5)

  • this is a fraction of a cost of a sans-amp, but gets a great variety of warm distortion and tones.
  • This Behringer distortion will match if not top any of them
  • This is an amazing little distortion pedal for a really cheap price
  • If you have been looking for a no latency solution to decent distortion, this is a great choice.
  • However, the distortions sound fake to me.
