The BLACK+DECKER 12-Cup* Programmable Coffeemaker is a classic. It delivers a great cup of coffee with ease, thanks to a handy range of features including QuickTouch programming, Sneak-A-Cup, and optimal brewing temperature. Plus, clean...
Shame to throw away an otherwise fine working coffee maker that likely has a loose connection or short, I will never know because for some reason B&D uses these ridiculous screws to discourage self reliance.
The old machine (after many, many years of faithful service) died an ignoble death Monday morning
Seems to work just as dependably as the old B+D so far, and it makes a good cup of coffee.
The coffee tastes every bit as good as -- or better than -- the coffee I made for 20 years in my now-defunct Krups.
I don't know if the manufacturer changed components and got a bad batch, but this model isn't as good as the B&D model from years past
Maybe I’m a rough user, but I’ve owned my GM 4-cup brewer for a good 7 year’s before I had to replace it
It works!Basket is unstable, filters are hard to find, often reshaping them by hand or scissor

This I do not fault the coffee maker, some have the drip arm securing the basket to ensure the ball connection is tight
However some Idiot threw the basket that holds the paper filters away or lost it
Our future son-in-law had some requirement’s for a coffee-maker: programmable, clock, 12 cup, durable (not cheap looking or functioning), easy to add water and easy to clean
Or even 10. 8 is about the most, because if you add the appropriate amount of water and coffee grounds to the pot for 8 or more cups (per the instructions in the provided book), it overflows the brewing chamber and the coffee spills on the counter, down the side on the burner (making a sizzling hissing sound) and grinds pour into the pot from which you drink

I'm guessing now that the loud 'snap' sound was electrical arcing inside the unit - something you don't want happening on your kitchen counter
The second just died this morning the same way the last one did
It is essential that it face that way for the snatch and pour feature to work as well
I love the way the top of the coffee pot is permanently attached.
I have had this coffee maker a little over a month, and the defective way it is made with the basket that hold the coffee I am continually getting grounds in my coffee
I bought this in april 2015 and it has now stopped working as of Jan 7,2016
Great and fast--I like my coffee quick and hot when I awaken at O'Dark Thirty!
The only negative is that it doesn't keep the coffee as hot as I like it.
Eventually I cleaned all the plastic pieces with vodka and that killed the terrible flavor of plastic
Coffee is not as hot as I like and is much weaker.
For the pathetic amount of time that it actually functioned, it was disappointing: filters that stuck in the machine when emptying it, a heating surface that shut off after a too-short period of time, and a carafe that threatened to break all the time as it was washed out due to its too-tall design as it kept clanking against the sink's surface (our Mr. Coffee, while also a terrible piece of equipment, never had that problem)
Comes with proprietary screws on the bottom that make it impossible to take apart to fix.
Go to take it apart to see what the problem is and they use unreachable screws which no one on earth would have a bit for

The plastic housing on top made it impossible to use after a few uses
However, I give two stars since Black and Decker realizes the same terror I realize when brewing a pot of coffee, if this thing runs for more than two hours, it may burn down the house
Maybe I’m a rough user, but I’ve owned my GM 4-cup brewer for a good 7 year’s before I had to replace it
so if you forget you aren't worried about it burning down the house, people love the coffee it
The only problem now is that the all-black housing makes it hard to see the water level when filling it, and we use the glass carafe to measure the water level instead.
Not to mention the hassle of it probably taking weeks to get to me, and it will probably fail again in under 6 months(this seems to be a common problem if you view the reviews on the Black & Decker site)Horrible
This past week it just quit working...period
If I didn't live in the country, have well water and forget to clean the tank every week, I'd probably still have the first one
Did not last one week and now leaks water when brewing
When the replacement finally arrived, it was an older model than the one originally purchased and only lasted a week before the water started to leak from the unit
