Because the water was not hot, it doesn't brew / extract coffee from the coffee ground and doesn't taste right.

but instead of,the coffee pouring into the pot it flowed to the sides along with coffee ground

This coffee maker is horribly I have tried everything and keep getting coffee grinds in the coffee ...... not happy at all

but I have to microwave or add boiling water to the coffee ground to get what I want.

If you don't place it exactly properly and shut the lid just so, coffee grinds go everywhere.

Great and fast--I like my coffee quick and hot when I awaken at O'Dark Thirty!

The only negative is that it doesn't keep the coffee as hot as I like it.

Coffee is not as hot as I like and is much weaker.

Broke as I was cleaning it with a wash cloth.

I don't know if the manufacturer changed components and got a bad batch, but this model isn't as good as the B&D model from years past

Shame to throw away an otherwise fine working coffee maker that likely has a loose connection or short, I will never know because for some reason B&D uses these ridiculous screws to discourage self reliance.

Seems to work just as dependably as the old B+D so far, and it makes a good cup of coffee.
