It is assembled with special screws (not hex or torx or anything I've ever seen) that need a special driver to disassemble so I cannot troubleshoot it myself without breaking the housing to open it up.

The only problem now is that the all-black housing makes it hard to see the water level when filling it, and we use the glass carafe to measure the water level instead.

However, I give two stars since Black and Decker realizes the same terror I realize when brewing a pot of coffee, if this thing runs for more than two hours, it may burn down the house

Maybe I’m a rough user, but I’ve owned my GM 4-cup brewer for a good 7 year’s before I had to replace it

Our future son-in-law had some requirement’s for a coffee-maker: programmable, clock, 12 cup, durable (not cheap looking or functioning), easy to add water and easy to clean
