But we'll not be keeping it as one with a hinge that works is definitely preferable.

This is a great little waffle iron, just do some experimenting when you first use it to get the timing

I was not expecting all the bells and whistles of a much more expensive waffle iron, but I did expect it to get hot enough to actually make a waffle

When the iron was working I had to put the waffles in a toaster to cook them properly so you could eat them

But it took as long to clean the waffle iron as it did to make them and eat them

Don't waste your money, Black and Decker is known for making cheap products.

The pins went in ok but the 1st time we used it they both broke again.

I received this waffle maker as a Christmas gift and the little plastic hinge/pin that holds the two heavy irons together broke the 3rd time I used it

I tried cleaning it just like all my other Teflon surfaces products and by like the third time it was literally splitting my waffles when I lifted the top up

I have a hard time using enough batter to fill out the entire cooking plate, no way this is going to overflow.

We used closer to 3/4 cup of batter not 2/3 as recommended and even then some waffles were slightly undersized which resulted as a not as crisp product

Not playing catch with it or even trying to see who could smash more batter into it

I mess up 1/2 the batter trying to figure out how many minutes until ready.

So extra crispy waffles or having very loose wet batter can't be measured out

The B&D waffle maker works fine

I was still able to use to with caution, then within the year the second hinge pin broke, now unable to use.

After a couple of months, the second hinge pin broke making the appliance useless.

It has a convenient light that that turns off when it is done pre heating as well as when your waffle is actually done

The cord doesn't lead out the back of the unit, it leads out the front - as if it were installed backward.

The cheap plastic snap-in hinge bolts broke only after 3 uses

The hinge pins that keep the hinge together are constructed from cheap, brittle plastic.

I examined them, and they were cheaply made, flimsy black plastic!

No way in hell would I recommend this cheap piece of junk to anyone.
