Blue Icicle XLR to USB Mic Converter/Mic Preamp

    • The sound does record but when you cant hear while your recording it is hard to adjust sound levels etc..
    • So I decided to pull up my favorite audio recording program, Audacity, to test my Icicle with my Audio-Technica AT897 Line + Gradient Compact Shotgun Condenser Microphone
    • Happy recording!
    • The used one they sent me always had a whine when recording
    • The recording quality was okay, albeit a bit noisy, for higher-pitched instruments
    • If you route your mic through a preamp, then put the Icicle between the preamp and the USB input of your computer, you can get a decent record level, but that extra equipment is what this light weight gadget is supposed to avoid
    • I could barely get an audible record level yelling into the enCORE 200, my staple for location voice recording
    • Gain is incredibly low and a annoying tone when recording
    • No buzzing noises or anything picked up really...just nice crispy sound recorded through a good quality microphone is all I hear
    • With Blue Icicle I can hear the carpet, the ceiling, the window, the furniture, any sound in the plumbing, any sound in the house; really every little thing is picked up so you have to be vigilant in setting up the most appropriate recording space
    • If you need a quick, cheap device for simple, lo-fi recordings, this would be it - but you're wasting your money if you think you can get a good quality recording from this toy.
    • So I bought this item for some mature vocal recording
    • The recordings are crisp and clear, just as good as recording on my camcorder in PCM
    • So I decided to pull up my favorite audio recording program, Audacity, to test my Icicle with my Audio-Technica AT897 Line + Gradient Compact Shotgun Condenser Microphone
    • yeah, the icicle would be a great purchase, but if you dont want to spend a ton of time in post and want a clear recording i would suggest spending just a little more and going for an actual audio interface.
    • It ruined the recording of a show I recorded.
    • Everyone told me I'm suppose to get an audio interface for good vocal recording, but audio interfaces always ended up with frustration
    • HOWEVER, when recording warm, lower-pitched instruments, like timpani and marimba, the Icicle provided its own soundtrack of buzzy feedback that could not be fixed, no matter what settings I tried
    • Despite this minor technical problem with the name, the recording of sounds is good.
    • Other than that ir records well and does what it needs to.
    • Piece o' garbage.
