Blue Icicle XLR to USB Mic Converter/Mic Preamp

    • It made my expensive mic sound crappy
    • This Icicle records clean sound with no static unlike other external and internal devices
    • I like the sound of my AT2020
    • Cheap sound
    • It's records very clear sound and doesn't seem to add any interference to the
    • Even with the gain knob turned all the way up i still had to add gain from my software for the sound to be loud enough
    • Clear sound, low noise, LOTS of signal
    • 4/10 ~ After a few months the sound became more and more distorted and had audible static in the background at all times
    • I use it to record demos and it provides a crisp, clean sound with zero noise
    • I'm able to record clear sound without any of the annoying buzz I used to hear when recording directly through the native/integrated Dell microphone
    • I will buy a Blue Icicle and attempt to get the sound of my 2020 with the volume turned down at the Volume Control options in Windows 7 and enjoy the different sound of 2 XLR mics thru usb
    • Using it with one of my Oktava MK-301 microphones I get excellent sound, no hum, and so far, excellent reliability
    • The sound was great, ease-of-use (NOT hardware minded lady) was good, I highly recommend for use in web meetings in large conference rooms
    • Noisy, intermittent sound, awful pre/amp
    • I've kind of figured that for the price, it is what it is; the sound is clear, any recordings I make are fine, and I'm only using it to do live jam recordings and to track solo vocals in a home studio
    • In context, the sound is adequate and you can't beat the price for the quality
    • All deliver very nice sound when used in a conventional recording chain
    • and I had fairly good quality sound
    • For what I needed it was perfect - simple plug and play that got good sound into my computer, and it worked well in a pinch.
    • The price is right and the sound is great
    • It can't replace the warm sound of a tube mic preamp, but comparing something that costs $50 to something that costs many thousands is just not fair.
    • Nice, clean, "transparent" sound without much coloring with my Electrovoice stage mic
    • Wonderful sound on this puppy - once you get it working
    • Besides that, it's got decent sound for the price and is good for someone on a budget.
    • I switched to a condenser mic which gives a clearer less muffled recording sound with more nuance, and this little baby does the job great.
    • the sound is much more "brittle", but regardless of that, you can't beat the price point for a portable device.
    • Clear sound, low noise, LOTS of signal
    • The Icicle does make the sound a wee bit less clear sounding, but not super muddled either
    • Very clean sound for such an inexpensive interface
    • Can't get much out of this tool other than making an expensive mic sound no better than a cellphone headset mic
    • No hissing sounds at all, it's very quiet with a mic connected, high frequency-spectrum wise.
    • The preamp has a nice warm sound to it
    • My initial reaction on holding the icicle was that it felt rather flimsy (wouldn't have bother me much if I were able to make sweet sweet sounds with it!)
    • Piece o' garbage.
