Blue Icicle XLR to USB Mic Converter/Mic Preamp

    • Feels like cheap plastic but works perfectly.
    • This works really great the sound quality is great and the gain knob it really useful
    • Quality is great, phantom power works, it's really wonderful!
    • Its been working well and connects instantly to my PC!
    • Well, after caring for it well and giving it no reason not to work, it of course stopped working for me
    • This was the best work-around I could hope for
    • Plugged direct into windows and controlled via ustream.tv software interface - this worked well, (although we needed a little more gain - obtainable by using better software - cubase, garage band etc), as an interim setup before we could get a more pro level interface for more than one mic etc.
    • For windows 7 users install can be a pain, but the trick pointed to elsewhere (not searching for drivers) worked great.
    • However, that is not really an issue because the product works great
    • It turns out that while the Icicle works, the gain or inbound audio-level is far too quiet to be of practical use most of the time, unless I happen to be sitting hunched over my desk yelling into the mic
    • My only complaint is that there's not a good way to cut phantom power so that I could try other mics, but unplugging it from the USB worked pretty well
    • Your mic should now be showing up under “Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound” in the recording tab as “USB Audio Device”In a followup email, the support tech added: "Yes, there’s some glitch in Windows 7 specifically that causes the Icicle sometimes to be recognized as a multi-channel device instead of a single channel device, and that causes the firmware to malfunction because it’s looking for more than one channel of audio for some reason."Anyhow, after using the little pre-amp knob to boost the input, the microphone has worked great.
    • This works well as advertised
    • Overall, great product, cheap, works on both Mac and PC.I don't know about Linux, as I have never really used it.
    • Piece o' garbage.
