The other complaint is that I didn't realize before purchasing it that the part where the coffee grinds go, does not attach to the machine

I'm usually a cheap-o and would never consider spending more than $30-50 on a drip machine

This is an upgrade to me; I've always had cheap O Mr. Coffee Pots or Walmart low end, but now that I appreciate exotic coffee from around the world, this pot is ideal for me.
