Bonavita 8-Cup One-Touch Coffee Maker Featuring Hanging Filter Basket and Thermal Carafe, BV1901PS

    • Super simple design.
    • Likes:--sleek design--simple--one button push--great tasting coffee--coffee brewed at right temp
    • While I appreciate the simple design, having one additional button to activate the infusion would have been more convenient.
    • Perhaps better than nothing at all, but the bloom feature is clearly very poorly designed
    • Notice how I didn't say poorly designed Bonavita
    • Very nice design.
    • Maybe this design is necessary for a great cup of coffee, right
    • Great coffee---but just as many other reviewers said--terrible carafe design .
    • Otherwise I just found the coffee maker to be a poorly designed pain to use
    • Unfortunately the design suffers some major flaws
    • You would think that a product designed to brew great coffee and costs over $100 would have a better design for the carafe.
    • Also, the carafe is an awkward design.
    • However, the design of this product is flawed, making this coffee maker cumbersome to use and messy.
    • The construction, water tank, filter unit and thermos are pretty well designed
    • No fuss and sharp design.
    • Super convenient, solid and easy to use, great design, worth the extra money compared to your run of the mill cheap coffee maker that overheats water and lasts just a year or two.
    • The design is straightforward, with few bells and whistles, and without a complicated set of instructions
    • It does make good coffee but to me the design is not worth the price.
    • This is a terrible design!3
    • VERY easy to use, stylish design, and of course, makes a great pot of coffee
    • Overall a very poor design.
    • This is a very simplistic 8-cup design that is appealing to the eye as well as easy to utilize.
    • I'm taking off a star for the very badly designed carafe
    • Again, because of the poor design of the carafe the inner lip catches water when trying to wash it
    • I think other people have covered the machine itself, I think it makes fabulous coffee, but I wanted to address one specific issue: the carafe and the "odd" design choices around it
    • Bonavita, the original with a glass lined, stainless thermal carafe (a poor design, because the glass almost always broke after a year or so)
    • The only slight complaint is the design of the pot causes it to pour
    • The carafe is the most poorly designed carafe I have ever used.
    • Poor design
    • Design was awkward with the basket just sitting on top of the carafe
    • This coffee maker is marvelous, short waiting time ,delicious coffee, excellent design
    • Makes a good cup of coffee, but the carafe is very poorly designed
    • Design flaw in pitcher
    • Seriously, this thing has a terrible design
    • Turns out that they sell the lid separately and or it was a poor design
    • The only flaw is with the stainless steal coffee pot design.
    • The one problem is the pouring spout on the carafe...when filling the water container, the water spills all over the place due to a poor design
    • This coffee maker is the worst design I have ever seen
    • The canister has a strange rim design that makes it impossible to get the last tablespoon of coffee out (or water if you are rinsing it out) without fiercely shaking it over the sink.
    • I love the filter basket design and it makes good coffee when it works.
    • The carafe is a terrible design when it comes to this
    • It's a easy design
    • Questionable design engineering IMO.
    • The unit seems to be well designed and is easy to use.
    • The very well-designed and broad sprayhead disperses water over the grounds typically between 195-200 degrees, based on my digital thermometer, and the resulting brew is more flavorful, and hotter, than any other coffee maker I've had over the years....thermal cone carafe, ceramic cone pour over, French Press, Aeropress.
    • Just a terrible terrible design.
    • First of all, the carafe's design makes it difficult to clean (the opening is just a little too small) and it is impossible to completely drain the liquid out of it
    • It's a shame to see such an amazing design get muddied by poor quality control.
    • Pros: I really liked the simple easy to clean design
    • The plastic filter holder is also well designed, as the many ridges minimize the contact with the filter and allow more of the filter to drain the coffee out
    • Thought the simplistic design would mean realiability, but that was a poor assumption
    • Love the coffee maker--can't wait until they correct the design of the carafe.
    • For the exorbitant price, I expect a perfectly designed machine
    • - for coffee machines half or 1/3 the price of this, you get the design taking this issue into consideration and solving it
    • Yes, this horrible design definitely takes this coffee maker from a 5 star rating to something lower, maybe even a 1 star
    • Very well designed and no fancy buttons to push, looks good on the kitchen counter....but fix the carafe.
    • Great coffee, simple design,
    • Poor design.
    • but it does brew with very uniform temperature and has a good basket design.
    • Sleek, simple and compact design
    • This is a very irritating design flaw.
    • It keeps the coffee warm but the lid is simply a poor design and prevents you from pouring the last couple ounces of coffee out causing you to remove the
    • Cheap plastic and poor design
    • Makes fine coffee, but the design is sort of absurd
    • degrees)• Caraffe is a good design that doesn't drip when you pour coffee• Relatively short, so that it's more likely to work
    • The Bonivita's spray head provides uniform coverage whereas with the Moccamaster I've got to rotate the brew cup 90 degrees half way into the brew cycle to get uniform water coverage of the coffee due to a poor spray head design
    • It's an attractive design for a coffee maker
    • The design is a little odd with out the brew through lid, but to keep the insulation on the carafe it's a necessary design feature.
    • The basket was very poorly designed but I think the new models corrected that problem
    • the carafe design is so poor that it is nearly impossible to pour out all of the coffee.
    • The design of the water tank makes it difficult to clean after use
    • It's a shame to see such an amazing design get muddied by poor quality control.
    • The basket is the most simple design with an open hole in the bottom, so it's not like any water put in for pre-infusion is going to stay in the basket, it just starts the brewing process right away and heading for the hole in the bottom of the basket
    • Especially handsome design as well
    • User error, but still, at 4AM I have to double check.--I like the simple design, but wouldn't mind a timer to start this thing up for me in the AM.All in all
    • I admire the simple design of product.
    • Makes great coffee, but definitely not the easiest to clean (due to the bizarre design choices on the carafe list and rim) and I worry that the shower head isn't distributing it properly because it is not quite level.
    • Carafe is the worst design of the entire coffee pot
    • The carafe is attractive and moderately insulating, but the internal design is poor
    • The design also makes it difficult to pour the last few ounces because of the lip inside the top of the carafe.
    • Easier to use and perfect design!
    • The only flaw is with the stainless steal coffee pot design.
    • the pouring spout in the canister to pour water into the container isn't well designed and gets
    • Great coffee, disappointing carafe design.
    • What a bad design!
    • Very poor design.
    • Bad design for carafe doesn't allow it to pour out easily or comfortably
    • Stylish design and fits in nicely in my small kitchen
    • Very bad design.
    • Bonavita, the original with a glass lined, stainless thermal carafe (a poor design, because the glass almost always broke after a year or so)
    • I highly recommend this nicely designed machine.
    • This is a very simplistic 8-cup design that is appealing to the eye as well as easy to utilize.
    • Great Design
    • The clean, uncluttered design (one switch) is simpler, more probably reliable than a bunch of switches and LCDs
    • Great coffee in a well designed package
    • Makes great coffee but the aluminum carafe has poor design
    • No fuss and sharp design.
    • Huge design flaw
    • Somehow, some imbecile designed the carafe on a computer and never tested the design a single time before it went into production
    • Poor carafe design.
    • I like the fact that it has no moving parts and is an attractive design
    • The carafe design is flawed with a poorly positioned pour spout
    • was looking to upgrade from basic coffee maker to one that brews at right temp and right design
    • The enclosure/handle is designed with two much of an overhang, essentially trapping about an ounce of coffee in the pot
    • The only downside with the Bonavita is the carafe, which has a poorly designed spout that spills water when I fill the water reservoir
    • The carafe itself is so poorly designed that it is even hard to properly pour coffee out of it
    • Besides, it's design is deceptive
    • The design is strange and the carafe hard to clean.
    • This is a significant design flaw and makes me think that the team that designed this coffee maker never actually used it to make and drink any coffee.
    • The design of the carafe is terrible
    • Really bad design, and really annoying
    • Very simple clean design
    • Weird design
    • brews hot coffee, caraffe is a cumbersome design
    • I like my coffee very hot, and this just doesn't seem like the best design
    • Also, the top of the carafe is designed such that it's hard to empty the pot--coffee stops just under the top edge.
    • Intuitive and functional design
    • (poor design)*The pour lid comes apart for easy cleaning but is impossible to get back together
    • Granted unit makes excellent coffee when it works but poor design and quality control makes it bad choice and a waste of money
    • The Bonavita carafe has a lip around the inside that traps liquids, no way to get all coffee or water out when rinse, unless wipe it out with towel, poor design.
    • Carafe is not the best design if you want to pour the last drop; not too bad
    • This design isn't the most ideal.
    • Unfortunately the design suffers some major flaws
    • The biggest issue with the coffee maker is the stainless steel carafe as many people have complained about excess coffee or water being trapped in the carafe due to poor design
    • This coffeemaker does make good coffee, however the design of the pot is lacking.
    • Agree with most of the reviews here ... quality of brewed coffee is quite good, but the design of the carafe needs work
    • The carafe top seems cleverly designed until you realize that the last ounce or so of coffee cannot be poured out because of a ridge on the carafe edge, making rinsing the "empty" pot a bit time-consuming
    • and I'm not inclined to wait on a brain-dead design in my morning stupor.
    • The design is elegant and to my tastes much more attractive than many other coffeemakers, so I decided to buy one.
    • Works well according to my wife , She likes the simple design , but has decided she likes the coffee better with the permanent filter .
    • For the cost of this coffee maker, one would expect a good design in the carafe
    • There's a groove in the lip of the carafe which is very poorly designed.
    • It's a solid simple design, makes a smooth cup of coffee that tastes good.
    • In sum, this design was a HUGE mistake from Bonavita's technical marketing, product management, and purchasing group
    • Horrible design but great coffee
    • Just terrible design
    • But, anyway -- this has several annoying design flaws
    • Poor design!
    • It is a simple effective design
    • It is quite fast and well designed.
    • Reviewers that note the awful design of the carafe are spot-on
    • What a poor design
    • Pros: great coffee, simple design, super easy to keep clean, fits under my counter.
    • Design makes it impossible to fully empty so you get an unwanted leftover from the previous batch.
    • I love the simple design, as I never used the programmable features of my other coffee makers anyway.
    • My other pet peeve is the design of the thermal carafe
    • Just wish they'd done a better job designing the carafe.
    • Design is so pretty that you won't mind it being on your counter9
    • So great for a quick brew, great for a pot that retains it's heat without a warmer underneath but bad for not including a lid or a better design for pouring
    • The design is just plain dumb
    • A well-designed product should have a plan in mind for where all it's parts end up before and after the production process
    • Horrible design.-One button operation
    • - The filter mug hence does not attach to the top of the frame or cannot be sliced into a slot on top - This is a bad design in terms of usability as after the process id completed, you will have to place the filter mug somewhere on the countertop by itself.
    • I thought the design, ease of use, looks and most importantly, the taste of the coffee were all terrific.
    • Exceeded any expectation I could have had!Design simple but totally perfect
    • However, the design is very inefficient and has some major feature flaws.
    • This is just very poor design
    • It feels well-made, is well designed for its function, looks very attractive on the kitchen counter of our contemporary
    • Seems like a crazy design
    • Defective design
    • Very very poor design
    • I also like that this design forces me to clean up the grounds immediately after the coffee is finished - I can't allow myself to be lazy and let them sit
    • It is found in the manual and customer service at Bonavita refuses to refund my money because they say the product is working as designed.
    • Makes sense, because it's an awful design
    • Not well designed for price
    • That's bad design and potential for loss
    • The carafe design is awful, You can not get all the water out - you must turn upside down and wipe around rim with paper towel
    • After brewing, my first cup of coffee is not even as hot as I like
    • doesn't keep the coffee hot as I
    • Thanks for the information, as I really like my coffee hot!
    • Coffee is excellent, comes out very hot, stays hot n carafe and is delicious.
