Bonavita BV382510V 1.0L Digital Variable Temperature Gooseneck Kettle

    • Being won over to a pour over coffee drinker I needed a water pot that could give me hot water at recommended temperature and a spout to pour slowly and evenly.
    • This is an awesome kettle - perfect for those who need precise temp water such as myself (brewing pour over coffee)
    • On the other hand, it does seem to take longer to boil than other kettles I've owned, and I was surprised to find that there is no audible notification/alarm when your water has reached the target temperature, without which your choices are to either 'stand and observe' to heating or set the kettle to hold water at the temp setting for an hour, which wastes energy.
    • Hot water is made quickly and efficiently.
    • Frustrating for when you'd like to multitask, i.e. heat water to desired temperature while doing other things around the house.
    • Of course we only warm the water for formula in it!!!
    • It's replaced the convenience of our Keurig's almost immediate hot water availability
    • When finished I just dump the water while it's still hot and turn the lid
    • The digital layout is easy to read and unlike other kettles this one doesn't boil the water then "cool down" to your selected temperature
    • Filled with cold water & set on top of the unit.
    • Measuring the Bonavita the same way, it was markedly slower: by the time my stove boiled the water, the Bonavita had only reached about 175-180 degrees
    • According to instructions: Make sure you don't fill it past the fill line indicated by the handle or hot water may bubble out of the spout or holes in the top
    • It is made a world of difference and given me a lot of confidence since I'm able to know that I'm pouring my hot water over the grounds at an optimum temperature
    • Works pretty well, but I wish it had a clear part to see how much water you put in it like many of the others do.
    • My only complaint is that, since it's 1000W rather than 1500W or more, it's pretty slow, taking over 6 minutes to heat a liter of cold water to boiling
    • It boils water, but look elsewhere for a kettle to use for gong fu style tea service.
    • : Hit power/hold so water will be ready for wife when she wakes up5:55am
    • This piece of garbage overheated the water by
    • Often, I'd get distracted and have to reboil and cool the water.
    • Feels a little cheap but been going strong, boils my water about as fast as I can grind them beans.
    • Because of this, it's perfect for tea if you're constantly adding new hot water to your tea
    • We have hard water, so descale this per the instructions
    • This one is really the perfect size for a home brewing station, holding enough water for 3 large coffees or teas.
    • I love that I can keep the water at the same temp for a period of time and also love that it defaults to the last temperature used (versus 212)
    • Thankfully that water wasn't extremely hot, but it easily could have been, and the person handling it could have been severely burned
    • Water only touches stainless.
    • The narrow spout is great for controlling the 'where' and 'how much' of hot water you want.
    • It eventually got to the point where it would always boil the water regardless of the temperature setting.
    • I just put in fresh cold water as I need it.
    • Only warm the water in this!!
    • I got the error the second time, even though I had let the kettle cool down and used cold water as instructed
    • Not easy to clean if you have hard water
    • best water kettle anyone could ever buy
    • I hate when the water is too hot,
    • A small crack has formed in the adhesive and every time I use it, it will leak water
    • It is the only fine-tune (to the degree) temperature-controlled hot water
    • so if we have company I wouldn't have to pause half way through to boil more water.
    • and just enough water to fill a small french press
    • The hold feature is splendid allowing you to keep the water hot for tea if you’re making multiple cups or just want to ensure the continued use of your kettle.
    • Great water pot!Reaches temperature quickly, holds the temperature accurately, pours very smoothly
    • Bonavita tells me this is only supposed to happen when you are at high altitudes and trying to boil water
    • This kettle heats just enough water for our french press and makes brewing the perfect cup utterly simple
    • The 1.0L version is enough water to more than enough for a small gourd of mate (refilled 10 or so times, at least
    • It turns on and reads the current temperature as 212F even with cold water in there.
    • So, basically, you pretty much know all the time what the temperature is.*I wanted it to be easy to lift and direct the flow of hot water to either fill a cup or to pour over grounds
    • It will still heat water, but after two weeks of gentle use (I even left the plastic on the base!), it shakes like an aluminum can with a nail in it
    • Others have tried to explain this as a deposit from hard water/mineral rich water
    • Quickly boils water!
    • Fast, keeps water hot, easy to pour and just the right size for control.
    • Its great to have my hot water ready to use at my convenience
    • then the readout starts flashing random temps from cold water to near boiling.
    • I've added cold, filtered water at around 40F and it reached 200F within 3 minutes
    • I use this for morning pour over, tea, anything requiring very hot water.
    • However now after 3 years the handle catastrophically failed and hot water spilled on my
    • If you have hard water, it is recommended that you use a brand-name product to remove the inevitable scale build-up.
    • Works like a champ turning out Liter after Liter of perfect temperature water!I can't recommend this product enough.
    • Coming from someone that used an electric kettle to boil water and then transfer to another kettle with a gooseneck, this really simplified my morning routine.
    • However, after 12 months of daily use the thermometer is starting to go, causing the water to either overboil or fail to reach desired temperature
    • This kettle is great for anyone that needs hot water at a specific temp (tea or something) but I use it solely for coffee
    • Using cold tap water tends to overheat the kettle before it reaches
    • If the water hits boiling it'll automatically disable the temperature hold, but that's really the only inconvenience
    • Now I don’t have to boil water in a kettle and then wait five minutes for it to cool down to the correct temperature for brewing green tea.
    • Great water kettle.
    • But I don't like my water to get stale.
    • I've started purchasing the delicious Teavana teas which are labeled with the ideal water temperature and brewing time
    • Consistent water temperature makes a consistent difference (and we prefer pour over at 195.)
    • Of course it's also great for tea, hot chocolate, and anything else that requires hot water
    • Okay kettle, but it leaks water, doesn't ever come to a full boil, and the handle gets too hot to touch
    • I like the controls and the pour spout and handle shape make it easy to pour hot water, which is good.
    • However, after using this for about a year or two, I bought another, less expensive water heater because I am usually in a
    • It boils water
    • Compact enough to stay out of the way on the counter, but holds more than enough water
    • I really like this now, because it takes a lot less energy than a traditional kettle which always boils the water
    • I haven't experienced any problems with rust and our water is very hard
    • I only used it for 3 months and it started to leak water from the base
    • Although it still boils my water, the main reason I bought it was because of the digital temp gauge and the reviews helped influence my decision as well which is why i'm trying to be as honest and useful as I canI suggest buying a more durable, better quality kettle from a brand that has a great reputation even if it may cost a bit more.
    • It makes my morning coffee ritual so effortless because the water is ready when I need it
    • I have had no problems with rust or hard water staining, even when it was left partially filled and unused over a weekend I was away.
    • It heats the water up pretty fast and I love the hold feature because it lets you set the
    • The digital readout displays all of this time, so you can easily know if your water isn't hot enough and needs to be re-warmed
    • Hop in shower5:47am: Get out of shower, dry off5:50am: Go back to kitchen, water is hot and ready to go for my
    • The kettle holds enough water for two average mugs full plus rinsing out the filter before pouring
    • Usually, with some warm water left in the pot, and going to the 160-190 range, it takes two minutes
    • It allows for a smooth, even water stream that allows you to create a a water spiral, mixing the tea leaves and coffee grounds nicely.
    • My one recommendation would be to only use purified water though to keep these from getting mineral buildup on the inside.
    • This electric kettle heats water super quick and the functions like keeping the water at a specific temperature are handy
    • It allows you to keep the water hot without it boiling away.
    • This is great for warming up water within a certain temperature
    • Displays temp of cold water as 212 degrees.
    • You will find yourself boiling water just to use this incredible invention
    • And while its primary purpose is to make coffee, I am surprised at how many other uses we have found for it - heating water to boiling to prepare brown rice in the oven, for sterilizing the spoons, forks, and small strainer I use to make yogurt, preheating flasks we use to keep food warm in, making tea - these are just a few examples
    • Water boils extremely fast in this device
    • I originally bought this for pour over coffee, but we use it for all of our hot water needs now
    • All three methods require precise water temperatures and the ability to easily and accurately pour water over the grounds
    • Has a temperature control so your water stays hot
    • I drink Yerba Mate in the Argentine manner--in a mate gourd with bombilla--and boiling or very hot water makes for a very bitter, painful sipping experience
    • It gives you a little water protective case to put over the base as well
    • You don't need the water hot enough to boil
    • Nice to be able to set a temperature, press the hold button, and be able to go about my business and know any time in the next hour that the water will be ready for me
    • Heats water fast, works great, great real time temperature control.
    • The preset temps are good starting points and make it easier to run through a series of hotter infusions during a green tea session (where I start with cooler water and infuse multiple times with hotter water
    • A must for good pour over coffee, but great for tea and anything else you need hot water for
    • my water is ready when I need it.
    • It even keeps the water hot after heating up for a decent period of time.
    • It holds enough water to fill my french press coffee maker with a bit left over to heat a cup, or I let it cool and water my plants since it has heated the water enough to get rid of the chlorine in the tap water
    • Every once in a while, if the water in the kettle is heated, but then left to cool, instead of being used, it loses its seal and drains the water all over the base and counter top.
    • Plug it in, it boils water
    • The main reason for the purchase was that we make the pour-over style coffee (in a Chemex glass carafe) and the goose-neck spout is easiest and least sloppy for that (makes it easy to control the flow of the hot water).
    • keeps on giving hot water.
    • well, it boils water,
    • The Bonavita heats up water not only quickly but accurately as well allowing you to select a temperature
    • I just put slightly warm water in to avoid the problem.
    • I bought this Kettle as a Tea drinker with the many needs of steeping various types of tea-- the need to keep the water at a constant temp through as many as 10 steeps for Pu-erh tea and as few as 3 steeps, at a different temperature, for green leaf teas
    • I only heat up enough water for one cup, which is really fast, but it can take maybe 7-8
    • Very well made and boils water fast
    • Pros- Heats water really fast, about one minute faster than equal amount on gas stove
    • It allows you to keep the water hot without it boiling away.
    • Bottom line, these are the best way of dialing in precise water temperature with ease and efficiency
    • I am constantly amazed in how fast this warms up water.
    • Previously I was heating the water on the stove and pouring the hot water over my coffee grounds from a regular kettle
    • IT seemed pricey when I bought it -- I mean, I can boil water in a pot, right!
    • I never realized how important water temp was for coffee until I got this kettle.
    • Nice kettle and functions well except it leaks water onto the base when left sitting on hold and when pouring
    • This works great for tea or for coffee when you're looking for a precise water temperature
    • I'm no longer tied to my electric kettle trying to get the perfect water temperature for brewing pour over coffee or for a cup of tea
    • Now preparing my french press coffee (or tea, or whatever that involves hot water) is a breeze.
    • The water is easy to control thanks to the gooseneck and has been a world of a difference from just boiling water in a pot.
    • You have to watch the temperature display to know when your water is ready.
    • I have been using the microwave and stove to get hot water with undesirable results since I can't control the temperature of the water
    • I had to turn it off/on to get it to boil, which took much longer than my other hot water kettle.
    • We have really enjoyed using the Bonavita digital variable hot water kettle
    • This is the best water heater on the market
    • The kettle also includes a hold function to keep water at a temperature once reached, useful for starting the kettle while continuing to work on other things
    • It actually gets in the way, as I can't dump the water out as quickly as I'd like.
    • Just get something that has a gooseneck and boils water fast, and use a thermometer
    • It will hold just enough water for 2 cups of coffee so beware.
    • That one only held barely enough water to make about 2 large pourover coffees (16 oz each)
    • The longest it ever took was a full pot of very cold water going up to 210 ... about 5 minutes
    • The only improvement that could be made is adding a beep when the water is ready
    • Cold tap water to 190F in about 150 seconds
    • I bought this kettle a year ago when I wanted temp controlled hot water for various drinks
    • I love the custom temperature setting and how quickly it boils water
    • Fill it with cool water, and it immediately begins leaking
    • Boils water quick, and super easy to pour
    • It does have a few plastic parts, e.g. the handle, knob on the exterior of the lid, and the heater base; however, nothing plastic (that I can see) touches the hot water
    • But if you like your water a little less hot, it's otherwise fine.
    • It's precise, heats up quick and keep your water warm for up to an hour
    • This is a great electric water kettle.
    • I use it daily and my only complaint is the hard water causes calcification on the bottom but that just comes with the territory of any kettle
    • This heats quickly, has lots of useful settings, and there's nothing but metal in contact with the water (our key requirement, since so many other steel kettles have a plastic measurement window that exposes the hot water to plasticizers).
    • It lets you choose what temperature it goes to and after that it's just one button press to boil water, or two presses if you want to boil and then hold at the top temperature
    • This fancy model lets you set the temperature and when you push the on button it will boil the water to said temperature.
    • I bought a cheap spot thermometer but never got consistent water readings with a standard kettle.
    • I did 2 consecutive boils with baking soda (coupl'a tablespoons) followed by 2 consecutive fresh water boils, then did the same with salt.
    • The original one I got started rusting after a couple of months, even though I would immediately take and keep the lid off after using it so the remaining hot water could evaporate quickly (and keep the inside as dry as possible).I submitted a warranty claim as has been instructed in the Q&A of the product
    • It lasted a little over a year and a half and now leaks water from the bottom.
    • if you're like me - the kind of garbage person who boils water, forgets, and re-boils it 15 minutes later, forgets again, and then goes out and buys coffee at a cafe
    • We bought this to replace a Sunbeam HotShot, which is a two-cup, fixed temperature heater that shuts off at about 190F. We wanted to have something that could make enough truly boiling water for instant oatmeal and two cups of coffee or tea
    • Just don't buy this expecting hot water in 30 seconds.
    • so what when you remember the water is still as hot as you wanted it
    • It's a study kettle that'll heat your water quick, easy to pour, and the handle remains cool to the touch
    • and I love that I can keep the water hot for an hour.
    • Simple to use, accurate to within a few degrees and enough water for about 2-10 oz coffees and preheating.
    • I turn it on and it immediately reads 212F, which it cannot be as the water is cold
    • Great hot water Kettle for Pour Over Coffee!I wanted to master the single and multiple pour over coffee process and this kettle will get the hot water to the temperature you need and HOLD it
    • Easy to clean, fun for pour-over, and great to know exactly how hot my water is for various drinks and coffee styles.
    • Unless you take a look at the LED panel, you wont really know when your water is ready
    • Others have tried to explain this as a deposit from hard water/mineral rich water
    • I am very happy with this, if precise hot water control is what is needed for best coffee/tea/whatever
    • Use it daily for morning tea/coffee, as well as additional times throughout the day for more tea/coffee or to boil water to cook with, etc
    • So 2 more fresh water boils.
    • bottom of the kettle stays cool+Because it doesn't bring the water to a full boil, you get less hard water buildup than with regular kettles+Extremely easy to control the flow of water+The digital readout is very accurate and easy to read+The handle is very niceCons:-The outside of the
    • This is the hot water kettle you should buy if you care about making tea, coffee, or ramen at the proper temperature
    • The 1.7L version holds enough hot water to preheat the mugs, rinse the filter and brew two large cups of coffee
    • Since water tends to cool off several degrees once removed from its heat source, I find this feature to be invaluable because it allows me greater control of the temperature variable, taking my coffee snobbery to dangerously high levels bordering those of organic chemistry
    • We have very soft water which means that this is unlikely
    • Love the size of the spout as it makes pouring hot water easier.
    • That said, if you're still boiling water with a kettle on a stovetop, you are missing out on a huge convenience.
    • Replaced one that was glass which looked terrible showing water spots and such
    • It also keeps water hot for an hour, if you press the hold button
    • I just put in fresh cold water as I need it.
    • Performance wise is will take a full 1-liter of tap cold water and get it to max 212 degree Fahrenheit in roughly 4 minutes
    • The kettle consistently said the water was anywhere from 20ºF to 50ºF colder than it actually was
    • our water is hard
    • On the other hand, The temperature controller with the dust/water cover is a nice idea, yet the actual product does not last long
    • Most of the time the base would refuse to turn on if the water in the kettle was too cold (i.e. fresh out of the Brita filter in the fridge.
    • Plug it in, it boils water
    • This boils water well and rather quickly
    • Yesterday the kettle handle suddenly broke off while pouring hot water!
    • After each brew I pour the remaining water out of the kettle and hand shake it dry and do the same with the lid, and then set the lid on top of the kettle perpendicular to its natural resting state when it is on the kettle for brewing
    • The kettler holds enough water to make two 8oz cups or one 16oz cup
    • I wish this feature could be disabled, but it is probably a great feature for forgetful people who would leave it on to cook out all the water and burn itself out.
    • Narrow spout is great for precise water delivery pour overs of coffee using my Hario ceramic cone.
    • Best one available, holds the temp, so you can set it and take a shower, perfect for the exact temp needed without that annoying boiling water s***.
    • The feature set is genius, I love being able to start the water when the dog gets me up to go out, then come back when I'm actually awake to find perfect temperature water
    • This is a wonderful classy hot water kettle
    • When finished I just dump the water while it's still hot and turn the lid
    • 1L capacity allows for enough water to rinse and preheat filter + filter holder or teapot and brew couple couples.
    • So if you're brewing for 4 minutes, you can't continually replace the kettle on the base and have it keep your water at the temperature you want, and the water slowly cools off throughout the brew
    • We have only used purified water in this kettle and have never seen any kind of water related build-up.
    • About as fast as a regular, boil-only hot water boiler
    • It heats the water quickly and it's working as good today as it did when I purchased it.
    • 1- the display does not turn off automatically when the pot is removed (have to press the 'off' button before removing the pot or else return the pot, turn on and then off) and the Hold temperature function only holds it until you remove the pot; once you set it back on , if you want the water to stay hot and ready to use, it must be turned on again and hold pressed again.
    • My only complaint is that because you don't hear the kettle boil, or an element turn off, I often don't notice when the water's ready
    • I only use filtered water to eliminate hard water spots and maybe that will help it last longer.
    • We recently had a baby and I like to use the kettle to warm water for herbal teas and to just drink
    • I do recommend emptying the kettle while the water is still hot, rather than letting it sit until it cools down.
    • Definitely designed for well water or European drinking water.
    • Water boils at 212°F at sea level, but boils at 199.2°F at my house in the high country of Colorado
    • It heats water very fast, has easy-to-use controls including the "hold" feature, and is easy to clean
    • So, I was bummed initially when this broke on me (wouldn't heat up water, just sat there telling me the temperature) after only a week of use
    • But if you are just looking for a kettle to boil water for tea or other uses then it would probably be better if you pursued a non-gooseneck kettle or other cheaper alternatives.
    • Makes breakfast multitasking much easier than timing the water on the stovetop.
    • Still better then my Hamilton Beach kettle who's lid is all plastic (although that one is quicker to heat) but over boils the water.
    • I've been wanting a hot water kettle for a while
    • But the water is boiling when the temp readout says 207 or so
    • Now, one year and eight months later, the gooseneck has detached from the main kettle, leaking hot water all over the place
    • Update: 2 years, no rust, perfect performancePros: •looks great! •Heats up reasonably fast, about 3-4 minutes to reach 200degrees (using 50 degree water, faster if you use hot water to start) • easy to use buttons
    • If you don't, the water will stay pretty warm for about a half hour
    • The only thing is that if you want to warm up the press with the hot water before you brew, you will have to refill the kettle to get more hot water before you actually brew the coffee
    • Small size means less time to boil water for 1 or 2 people
    • or so I feel from tap temperature) we are now used to boiling water when we need to.
    • and I leave the top on always.)I get up, push ON and HOLD (and it remembers I like my water at 200 degrees).
    • Even faster than warming the water in microwave
    • We use it for pour over coffee plus all throughout the day for any reason we would need fast hot water.
    • It leaks EVERYWHERE, and when tilting the kettle it will leak profusely - which is a great feature considering that it is leaking near boiling hot water on you
    • I use it everyday, and I love being in control of what temperature my water will stop boiling at.
    • So 2 more fresh water boils.
    • had to make coffee for about 10 people and there was barely enough water.
    • If you want to spend some time meditating while you pour your hot water, then this kettle may be right for you
    • The minimum setting of 140 may still be too high for some folks if they just want some warm water to drink.7.
    • Keeps water hot until you're ready to use
    • After a couple of months rust started appearing in the lid and the top part of the kettle, and by now the rest is very extensive and gross, to the point it stains the water
    • It's super fast, beats a standard kettle, I swear a whole pot of cold water takes about a min to heat up to 205 degrees
    • This is a top quality water kettle and the last one that I'll ever need
    • Keep in mind that when you boil water at the highest setting the exact temperature it will reach may not match exactly due to your elevation
    • Water that was once room temperature is now hot, thanks to the Bonavita 1.0L Digital Variable Temperature...
    • Because it had seen light use in clean water (no mineral deposits
    • Also useful for topping off my sous vide baths with correct temperature water during long sessions.
    • We start with filtered fresh cold water and use various temps for pour over coffee, americanos, tea, and other hot beverages.
    • because otherwise, after about the 14th time you spill hot water all over yourself trying to pour out of a regular spout, you'll stop using it and your investment is wasted
    • cute design and pour thin stream of hot water
    • Never realized how much difference getting the right water temp can make in the flavor until I got this thing
    • cold water go in, hot water come out
    • The water warms up quick.
    • Even when the water feels like it is freezing out of the water filter
    • It holds just enough water to make a full french press.
    • We love the exact temp feature since I like my coffee water @ exactly 195 and vary tea temps from 185 to 206 based on variety
    • Easy to clean and perfect for anything that requires hot water.
    • but I used filtered water from the fridge and have a soft water system in the house, so I wonder if that helps clear rust from forming
    • The narrow spout will allow you to 'bloom' the coffee grounds and then infuse it with the correct temperature of hot water to give you the single pour coffee experience!
    • BTW, my favorite product for descaling (this WILL build up scale unless you have very soft water) is to boil a pot of water with some citric acid powder mixed in
    • This could be dangerous if the hot water splases on anyone when the kettle crashes on the floor
    • Super convenient if you have something else to do while your water is warming up
    • With this unit you can set the temperature to your liking, and set a holding temperature if you want to keep the water warm or hot.
    • It is lightning fast to heat up water and extremely accurate.
    • After the 2 initial boils that Bonavita recommends I did a boil with lemon juice (a tablespoon) followed by a boil with clean water.
    • Well it heats water, and you can set the target temperature and keep the water warm
    • Where most of the competition merely lets you direct a flat, misshapen ribbon of splash-prone hot water in the general direction of your beverage, the Bonavita spout gives you a clean, well-defined stream that’s useful whether you’re blooming coffee or wetting loose-leaf tea
    • I give this kettle 5 stars as much for how well it heats water as
    • It took almost a minute to pour enough water into my french press through that spout!
    • This provides control over your pour and fast accurate water temp.
    • This is a great electric hot water pot
    • Also worth note, they might just being using tap or well water rather than filtered.
    • Doesn't boil water, can't set lower than 140 deg
    • All the visual indications told me that the kettle was off; yet the water continued to boil.
    • Third, once I pour off the first water to make my tea or coffee, I can pop the kettle back on the unit and it will automatically hold that temperature for seven minutes or up to an hour, so I can top off my espresso with same temp water to make a full cup of coffee, or top off my tea with hot water once I've drunk some of it.
    • I used to just boil water on the stove top for my pour over Hario, but that gets the water way too hot.
    • But since we only use purified water, I don't see the need
    • This could be dangerous if the hot water splases on anyone when the kettle crashes on the floor
    • BTW, my favorite product for descaling (this WILL build up scale unless you have very soft water) is to boil a pot of water with some citric acid powder mixed in
    • I start the kettle before a quick shower in the morning, and when I get out, the water is ready
    • if you don’t use it every day the water could become musty.
    • Even though we have a nice coffee maker next to it, we didn't have a way to heat hot water.
    • I have yet to not have enough water to in one kettle to meet my needs
    • Word of warning though, I'd advise the use of purified / filtered water so you don't leave mineral residue after boiling, but that's just a water thing.
    • The plastic handle STINKS right after taking the kettle out of the box, which I suppose could be normal, but I would never know since after boiling the water four times, the gooseneck started leaking water at the kettle base
    • This kettle is rad and it boils water beautifully
    • Even if I turn it off but leave it unplugged it is still boiling the water
    • No plastic inside the kettle to poison your water or make it taste manky

    • I initially ordered the 1l, but I found that it was just barely enough water to heat the cups, rinse the chemex and then do a 750ml pourover
    • I attempted to fill the kettle to see if it could still be used and the rust had apparently damaged the seams as water began leaking out from the plastic base of the kettle
    • Although I liked how quick, easy and quiet it boiled water, the rust issue has prompted me to dispose of this kettle and buy a new one to use on my oven.

    • This is an electric kettle that makes water get hot
    • I hear it boils water quickly, maintains temperature, and you can customize the temp based on the type of tea you will be brewing.
    • I like the versatility of choosing my water temp with this kettle, and the ability to keep the water hot
    • Hot water and plastic is not a good combination for health reasons as well as taste reasons.

    • This is a fantastic hot water kettle
    • I never measured the time it took the old Bodum to heat my usual quantity (which actually worked out to about 15 ounces), but I had once measured it against my gas stove; for that 15 ounces the two boiled the water in about the same amount of time, though the Bodum was quicker for larger quantities
    • By the time I'm done prepping my Aeropress, the water is hot and holding steady, thanks to the "hold" feature.
    • Each stop makes a clicking sound which makes me think the water is ready, but when I look, it's not, and it clicks again to ratchet up the heat.
    • Now, one year and eight months later, the gooseneck has detached from the main kettle, leaking hot water all over the place
    • IT seemed pricey when I bought it -- I mean, I can boil water in a pot, right!
    • It heats up water so quickly, and I love the ability to choose precise temperatures (in both F and C) which works great for tea lovers who need different temperatures for different types of teas

    • It seems if the water if boiling as much as it can and the set temperature is above the boiling point you'll get the error

    • The base malfunctioned after just over a year of use, and a replacement base was denied as it was just outside of warranty
    • If I DO find that I can no longer get it to boil as it should because of the
    • This one qualifies as "bad", but since they're replacing it, I list it as "not-so-good" for now

    • And that slows down even more as you approach your target
    • I've found that by setting the kettle to "hold" at 98 C, I can get it to work as
    • works as it should, heats very fast.
    • Sure, the product works as it should, but the shoddy craftsmanship (and acknowledgement from Bonavita that these kettles are susceptible to rust) is a red flag
    • I suspect that these obstructions are what keep this from flowing as fast as and smoothly as my Hario
