Music sounds very good, movies are acceptable (not great)

If I buy something to plug in my old Pioneer receiver to enjoy music, I would never buy this pair

I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone who loves music!

Cd players getting stuck and static on the speakers is not how I used to enjoy music when listening to Pioneer equipment

The music sounds good pretty much no matter where you are in the room

Obviously no real base but very accomplished highs and mid range

With this combo the dialog is clear and the special effect sounds are as good as in the theater

I bought around 8 different pair of speaker trying to fine tune the quality of sound for bluray movies, I desired Very crisp and clear sound for dialog and background music, but when it came to special effect and explosion, I wanted a surround speaker that produced the optimal highs and mids range frequency, producing a precise "thud,Stomp or Pop" that compliments the throb and rumble of a sub woofer

I got these speakers 2-years ago and the price were still the same?Performance/quality:These speakers are very clear and you get a good range of sound.

The Bose 161s do a very good job as surround speakers for (in my case) a typical sized family room

Not earth shattering, but good quality and a Cerwin Vega sub does a nice job of complimenting everything.

Bose has done a great job on this product in particular, and i am very impressed

for small speakers they do a great job with a very strong and clear sound

Bose is the best; speakers are just the right size for location, and sound, as always, is superior.

Because I've used Bose products before, and because these were the 'right size' (per spouse), I purchased them.

The size is great too, big enough for a better sound, but smaller than bookshelf speakers....

I was in the Best Buy Magnolia theatre section and all 3 sounded very similar

Best Buy and other electronic stores just try and sell that to you

Being a college student, these are an excellent buy for a speaker upgrade to a sound system, or being added to a work in progress home theater system.

Bose it would be a great product,maybe they should stick with the wave radio.

Speakers are a great improvement to our home theater - and very reasonably priced.

So if you want quality for the correct price, just go for it but, If you are expecting better sound and high fidelity technology for a cheapest price belief me, I can't recommend nothing

delivers great sound as front speakers in a home theater setting and at a good price also does not look so bulky hanging on wall next to flat pannle tv

Not a bad price for a bookshelf speaker or surround sound speaker.

I've read some critisism for the Bose 161 speakers at the moment when the reviewers are saying they can't have enought bass sound, and the same I'm reading for those that are writting about the "cheapper" components for Bose brand with its expensive prices

Elegant, easily mounted and most importantly, sounds great.

but these mounted on a wall look amazing and very profession if you have any knowledge about speaker placement then these are for you.

Limited mounting options because of their shape and non-compatibility with other mounts.

The combination of the gear-tooth method of setting the speakers at the desired angle, coupled with the set screw that is very difficult to screw in, makes mounting the speaker to the wall bracket not much fun

Great range and clarity, no distortion

The clarity is surpassed by brands like Harmon Kardon and Pioneer Elite, but dont expect to shell out only 150$ for a pair of those

I will say they provide enough volume and clarity to fill our living room.

They get loud but maintain great clarity and spread the sound out evenly across a large room

i have them horizontally mounted on the wall and is secure with good quality sound

Any high end speaker you place on an old/cheap/low quality receiver will not get the best sound quality; it's like placing 22 inch chrome Momos on a Saturn...just doesn't make any sense

I've been putting together a fairly complex sound system in a large house and used the 161's for a tight enclosure space that yet had to work in a much larger room than they were ever intended for

I had an old and cheap Creative 5.1 computer speaker system

The sound is impeccable, and paired with a decent subwoofer these little guys can easily hold their own over a vastly more expensive speaker system

My mid frequency array and sub-woofer are not a Bose but melds nicely into a fine surround sound system.

The Bose 161 speakers were substituted for the dual satellite speakers, thus freeing up the older Acoustimass V system (both the satellite and acoustimass combination - which are an integral system) for use as a great stereo speaker system in another room

I am always shocked when I see good reviews of Bose Products.they sound

Bose gets a lot of poor reviews from the audio world, and I will admit many of their products are overly marketed and under engineered

Sometimes you read bad reviews and people dumping on Bose
