If you have a guitar, this pedal is a necessity for the best price of all pedals out there.
It's probably adequate for messing around with or as a first DS pedal (and the price is certainly economical), but I would not say that it produces high-quality distortion for rhythm playing
Been building up my pedal collection, and came across one of these at a great price
burn I like os1 better.
One of the rarer occasions where it feels like you got more than you paid for, excellent price point.
Very nice sound, and can produce a wide range of sounds for a good price
It's Tone knob gives the sound a more thick, almost muddy sound when turned to the left, while turning it to the right gives it a much more clear, defined, but treble-y sound.
This pedal generates a very cool sound which is great especially when performing live!
It turned my Boss DS1 distortion into a fantastic, way more expensive sounding pedal
Great sound if you looking for a distortion and not sure
I use the orange micro dark as clean as I can get it, and set the volume and shape knobs accordingly
Don't buy these to play on a clean channel or even worse on a Solid State amp.
For the price this is one of the best distortion boxes available, it works quite well into a clean sounding amp like the little Quilter Micro Block
I can use this and turn up the tone to play a tone filled, dirty Mötley Crüe song, and on the other side, I can turn it down and get a deep rumble and play some Black Sabbath and anywhere in between
It doesn't really make a solid-state amp sound like a tube amp, it's just a very honest distortion
I have a S type (Stratocaster copy) and a Fender frontman 25r solid state
It's the same sound as the original orange DS-1; that classic solid-state distortion that's a little noisy, heavier than the SD-1 or those Tube Screamer type pedals
Don't buy these to play on a clean channel or even worse on a Solid State amp.
Physically, the pedal is a tank, I don't think they can be killed as I let my 16 year old use
I use the orange micro dark as clean as I can get it, and set the volume and shape knobs accordingly
Classic distortion,great for blues,grunge,classic rock,punk even
Even If you love 90`s alternative rock turn up the distortion all the way and you will love this pedal and guitarists are still using it in 2014
Great pedal if you're looking for that punk-meets-noise/college rock kinda sound from the 90's
I play a lot of heavy metal, (Metallica, MegadetH, Slayer, trivium, bullet for my valentine, etc) and also 80's heavy metal and classic rock, (poison, skid row, whitesnake, quiet riot, def leopard, etc) and this Pedal, with a little understand about sound and compression, makes everything sound massive
Even If you love 90`s alternative rock turn up the distortion all the way and you will love this pedal and guitarists are still using it in 2014
