Upon further investigation, with BowFlex customer service, the motor cover was pressing heavily against the belt, slowing the motion of the treadmill, once the motor cover broke (popping noise), the belt was free to move and immediately sped up to target speed throwing me off

The cushion for running is great and this belt is clearly very strong.
