Everything else i have ever plugged in, in that same room has worked great, juicers, irons, toasters, microwave, --all with no problem, so this leads me to believe it was the product itself

and I have to say that I'm surprised how well and hot this thing works.

Been using it to heat up coconut charcoals for hookah use, and it's been working great so far just as other reviewers have noted.

it's light and not for heavy duty pots but for smaller things works great.

This Brentwood burner is my 'staging area,' it's where I get my pasta or rice or whatever going before I move it to the Oster for steady cooking

So far were happy cooking up great meals, the numbers of the temperature setting rubs off easily but that's are only complaint

He really likes it so far and it's cooked everything he's thrown at it

Anything that requires a higher cooking temperature or constant temperature I would recommend cooking on a normal range or a better burner

I routinely have this thing on at full bore for over 30 minutes to warm up the ceramic oven to about 225 deg.

This thing will stay red hot for a long time, and has not burned out.

After a little less than three years the unit simply stopped working

Enjoying this single burner, hit some tough times and our cooking gas was shut off

I don't think the different heat settings work at all.

PROS:- very light- small and easy to transport- easy to store- heats up in 2-3 minutes- low price- very useful if you want to avoid too much smoke / smell in the house- can take a 12 inch skillet without it sliding offCONS:- limited heat (30-35 minutes for a pack of bacon - 2 and a half "rounds" in the skillet)- doesn't heat a larger skillet equally- feels a little flimsy and cheap

Cleaning may be an issue: the instructions say one side of the heating element lifts for easy cleaning of the drip pan (this is standard and expected on most burners) but for the life of me, I can't get the heating element to lift at all

We bought this for my mother-in-law, and her feedback so far have been that it heats up well, but that cleaning the drip pan under the element coil is a little difficult

I like it - it works.

The element is screwed to the drip pan, and can be tilted up when the screw is removed to let a small-ish hand use a damp towel clean underneath, but the element doesn't seem to be removable by pulling on it like on modern full-size stoves.
