The 11x17 capability is good for printing out Sketchup drawings, reducing the number of sheets needed for a given size drawing by a factor of four.
If you need full 11x17 capability, I highly recommend this machine to you.
11x17 capability is a must for engineered drawings, layouts etc

However, downloading isn't hard and the printing quality has been wonderful
This one is so much better...print quality, scanning through the feeder is great and the cost for all ink cartridges is about half of one cartridge on the old machine.

Very sharp edges on very small letters, colors very vibrant and degradations between them seems very smooth

Duplex scanning requires manual flip and feed but works fine.
The scans are nice and crisp, and the software directs them to a place where you don't have to go searching on your computer for the image
Print is fast, scans excellent, large surface are for copy n scan, and set up was a breeze

If you need to print high quality photos or copies I would recommend buying another printer for those tasks or find a more expensive single model that prints cheaply but also has much better resolution
