I have been through every setting in the radio as well as through the programming cable in CHIRP and cannot fix it
This seems to be a much improved version & also real nice manual so easy to read & understand, quite different than some of the previous versions of instruction manuals

Having 5x the power of a handheld is obviously going to improve your range and clarity.
