That is workable but it also has no warming plate to keep the coffee warm after brewing and the thermos does not keep the coffee hot
No clock, no timer, no "sneak a cup" feature, no hot plate to roast the life right out of the brew, just a solid coffee maker that brews a really good pot of coffee
The new unit is noticeably lighter, the bottom plate is flimsy and the filter holder is flimsy and not finished in stainless steel like the old one
My husband actually burnt himself as it poured all over him.
You do not have to keep a hot plate on to keep the coffee warm.
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants an excellent coffee maker
I can't even begin to express how worthless and insane this product is
Bunn makes a good commercial product, but I didn't like this because first of all, it came damaged in shipping; but what I really didn't like, is that you have to leave it on ALL the time!!!
This is a great product and the coffee taste is spot on
I own this product also and would recommend it for anyone
No matter how finely I ground the coffee or added, the brew was way too weak.
Only criticism is, if you want a slightly slower brew to let the grinds "bloom", you have to let it flow for 30 seconds, open the top to stop it, wait a minute or so, and then close it
Lightning fast brew times, coffee stays hot for hours, and you don't have to remember to turn off the heat to the carafe
In the morning we dump out the hot water from the carafe and brew with the cold water.
I love the fast brewing time, the temperature is hot and the carafe keeps it that way for hours
The carafe keeps my coffee hot for about four hours and doesn't have the spilling or leaking problems others have reported
We bought another Bunn since our last one of many years started leaking, and losing temperature, only to find the build up of hard water is what forced its demise.
I like the Bunn product; however the stainless steel pot leaks from the top seal
I was filling the reservoir the night before and shutting the lid at brew time, but found it not as hot as if it's filled with fresh water when you're ready for a pot
I owned the regular carafe version of this for about 3 years before the infamous brittle plastic leak of the water intake occured.
and they make excellent coffee without burning plastic odors which was the reason I ordered a Bunn.
I was filling the reservoir the night before and shutting the lid at brew time, but found it not as hot as if it's filled with fresh water when you're ready for a pot
and I dont have that plastic odor I have gotten with other coffee pots like Mr. Coffee.
There was a plastic odor which seems to lessen with use
I do however recommend purchasing the plastic pitcher as it is easier when filling the machine.
It's leaking out the top and doesn't keep the water as hot as it should anymore.
It comes out very hot, but not as hot as when you use a percolator
I did notice a warm plastic smell for about a week but the smell has gone away now
The new one works good, the only concern is it still has that burning plastic smell after 2 weeks, Also the Stanless Steel tank gets fairly hot , need to keep things away from it.
we ended up putting it on a timer so it didn't cause the plastic smell
To solve the problem, you have to actually order another part from Bunn that restricts the flow of water (you can get around this by wetting the filter prior to
We contacted the company and a part was shipped to us immediately to slow the flow of water to the filter.
I also enjoy the fast brewing time, even with the a restrictive value installed to slow the flow down to prevent overflow.
and they sent me two replacement spray heads(free)that slowed the water flow and eliminated the mess
Luckily, Gunn gives you free flow restrictor nozzles for free, just ask for them.
If you use the smaller filters the coffee grinds will float over into pot and could plug unit if pot is not rinsed well
I think we had to increase the amount of coffee grinds we use though.
it seems like they fix the water spill issue but not the coffee grinds sticking in the upper assembly and droping of everywhere when you remove the basket
It leaks water from front of basket the coffee grinds float over the basket
Not this one - no leaks at all, no overflow of the basket or filter
This works much better for me as it's resulted in never having any overflow from the filter basket (or grinds in my cofee!
For us, this means grinding more coarsely (to med-coarse from med-fine) and grinding for ~3/4 of a pot (to limit the grind overflow in the basket), using water for ~6 cups (to keep the strength high and prevent carafe overflow) and using only Bunn filters
This has a design defect that causes water to flow through too fast and the filter is overwhelmed causing overflow, including all over the kitchen counter.
Even though we have made more per pot, the overflow of the "Bunn" filter dumped too many grounds into the pot.
