Within minutes, I pulled the IDE drive from a recently dead E-machine, powered it up using the supplied power supply, and connected it to the laptop that replaced it
Worked directly out of the box as expected with SATA drives
There were no other issues and everything was detected fine, and worked as expected with the connections etc
Works as expected, have about 10 hard drives from all different format which I was able to transfer to my NAS325
Worked exactly as described, no problems hooking up an old drive and transferring files from it.
Within minutes, I pulled the IDE drive from a recently dead E-machine, powered it up using the supplied power supply, and connected it to the laptop that replaced it
Item as described, easy to use, was able to download files from my hard drive to my new computer.
Connected to drive no problem, works exactly as described

*Had a (what I thought it would be) dead hard drive which kept freezing my system every time I tried accessing it through the Windows Explorer.
However, the most difficult time I had was removing the hard drive from my failed laptop.
Still if you have a bunch of hard drives or are having a hard time accessing hard drives using internal sata connections, this is a good way to do it without affecting your
This item worked extremely well the first time I used it
Worked the first time, no drivers to install and very simple to use.
The price is right, the shipping is fast and it is plug and play .
Price through Amazon was cheaper than price for same model on CablesToGo, and shipping was fast...purhcased on a Friday received on
The price was the cheapest I could find - there is no need to get a more expensive model or brand.
Make sure you are getting the C2G product because this same lower quality kit is available at cheaper prices
Within minutes, I pulled the IDE drive from a recently dead E-machine, powered it up using the supplied power supply, and connected it to the laptop that replaced it
It turns out the drive is fine, the device didn't work.
This device has worked with them all on my Windows machine.
Amazing, simple, and inexpensive little device (I like all three adjectives)
If there was a drive controller failure, a damaged head/platter or a motor failure - Your drive is DEAD and this device is not MAGIC! - my drives were all operational IDE drives
The device just isn't reliable enough to use for anything but saving a few files off an old drive.
Once, I did these things, the cables worked like a champ.
The cables were good quality but did not work for the application that I needed them.
These cables are great for retrieving all of your data off any hard drive that is IDE/SATA, and these cables make it easy to plug the hard drive into another computer via USB to retrieve that data
The only thing I do not like about it is that the small cable you use to access the smaller newer laptop drives is removable and I lost it for 3 months.
Only thing I had to do was change jumpers on the hard drive to cable select or slave, depending on the drive(s) I had connected
Amazing, simple, and inexpensive little device (I like all three adjectives)
Following Dave Tolle's comment about using an Swiss Army knife, I grabbed a cheap knockoff pocket knife I had on my office desk, and proceeded to open the case
If tech junkies or IT guys could build a swiss army knife of gadgets/tools this would be really high on the list.
Within minutes, I pulled the IDE drive from a recently dead E-machine, powered it up using the supplied power supply, and connected it to the laptop that replaced it
Took out my trusty Swiss Army knife, pried open the plastic case of the switch (two plastic pieces, glued together), and carefully cut off about 1/8 inch of plastic from each half of the case, to allow the switch to move all the way to the ON position, and used electrician's tape to fasten the case around the switch again
I pried the case off the drive itself and used this to hook up the SATA hard drive directly, and it did that brilliantly, too
So I cracked open the case, pulled the SATA drive and hooked it up to this adapter and it worked like a charm
It works exactly as it needs to, at least for SATA which is how I am using it
As tempting as it was to read the instructions, I forged ahead and plugged and played with no problems
It has been awesome--no more opening up cases and pulling wires, all I have to do is plug in an AC adapter and a USB cable to the computer and use the appropriate connectors on the cable set and I am in business, accessing the hard drive.
Worked as I expected it to, very flexible for getting data off old drives, etc
I had a catastrophic computer failure and assumed that I could never recover all my data from my hard drive without a lot of difficulty
I had the dreaded hard drive message "imminent hard drive failure" and decided to try to clone the drive before it failed rather than reload all the software and Windows 7, upgrade to 8, then to 8.1, and all the upgrades thereafter.
It works exactly as it needs to, at least for SATA which is how I am using it
but, just in the last two weeks, I needed to recover data off of a drive inside an old WDTV Live Hub which suffered a LAN port failure and is useless without it

The motherboard on our PC died so I decided to switch to Mac
Within minutes, I pulled the IDE drive from a recently dead E-machine, powered it up using the supplied power supply, and connected it to the laptop that replaced it
My old computer crashed (bad motherboard), so I needed to get to my IDE hard drives to transfer data to a new Windows 7 machine.
I have used it to connect some old hard drives to the computer to recover some files from a dead computer hard drive.
computer hard drives that they needed information off of after their computers had died.
I used this on my Windows 7 computer to recover data on an old 2.5" IDE laptop hard drive, as well as a 2.5" SATA hard drive, and it worked perfectly on both and no drivers were needed
My computer was good in recognizing the hard drive, however I was unsuccessful in retrieving any lost data
I am not a computer pro, but I needed to get some data from my old (bought in 2001) computer hard drive to transfer it to my new computer
Any docks that could handle all my various hard drives are expensive.
I considered alternative products like the hard drive docks, but for me this was a better alternative because it can be easily put away in a desk drawer when not in use
I decided on this kit over a hard drive dock because of the flexibility it provides in terms of using various types of drives.
Only complaint is that it doesn't look as nice as a dock, make it kinda messy with wires everywhere.
The only thing that I needed that wasn't included was a SATA cable that would go between the hard drive and the hard drive dock.
For evaluating hard drives and turning any internal hard drive into an external hard drive it's great
I was able to extract my data from a hard drive from an old laptop
I used this on my Windows 7 computer to recover data on an old 2.5" IDE laptop hard drive, as well as a 2.5" SATA hard drive, and it worked perfectly on both and no drivers were needed
I have used it to connect some old hard drives to the computer to recover some files from a dead computer hard drive.
i was able to move data over just like i would on an external hard drive.

Turn any IDE or SATA drive into a convenient external drive! Simply connect one IDE/ATAPI or SATA-based mass storage device through a USB port to easily transfer files from a computer or laptop, backup files or store large file archives on an external hard drive
The USB 2.0 interface enables easy installation with its plug-and-play design
The adapter supports all existing IDE/ATAPI devices such as Iomega Zip, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM and IDE hard drives
Compatible with current drive sizes on the market such as 1 and 2 TB SATA and 750 GB IDE drives
Because this adapter can handle all sizes and types of mass storage drives, it's a great solution for recovering personal files from IDE or SATA drives from computers that have had motherboard failures
Includes an integrated USB transceiver; supports USB Suspend/Resume and Remote Wakeup; and a 5 Volt (1 Ampere) power supply that supports both SATA power and standard 4-pin Molex (LP4) power connectors
Plus, the on/off switch on the power supply lets you shut off an attached drive without having to disconnect when not in use
(for 3.5in and 5.25in drives), 44-pin IDC Female (for 2.5in drives), 7-pin SATA Female (for SATA drives).
