This camera system was a great home security option until they decided to bait and switch all of their customers

Keep cruising Amazon and you'll find there are many better options for DIY home security.

Even the paid plans were cheaper initially making it a better option on the market than many home security systems

Just like you are reading all below, this was a bait n switch and has class action all over it!

If you want a constant stream of false alarm notifications on your phone OR if you want a security camera that completely misses most action (how did it not see me pulling out of my garage when my car needs to drive COMPLETELY ACROSS THE FIELD OF VIEW?!?!

Canary is both a wonderful security companion, and a great addition to a home automation system

Even before the latest changes, the Canary was almost useless for in-home protection because of the delay in sending notifications

The biggest problem with what Canary did is the dishonesty and bait and switch scheme

So for almost two weeks I had a useless $150 Canary doing nothing at my house

That is a poor business practice and terrible customer service.

Unfortunately however, the company is not trustworthy, does bad business and has poor customer service

They sold this with the free service and now they have taken away most of those free features

What was promised to be free now is a service that Canary charges for

Canary has the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life

My $200 camera is now useless I pay for the monthly subscription

the camera wont record a thing so the camera is useless

Since it has changed, the camera has become essentially useless

The Canary home security cameras are very good at capturing any activity it sees.

If there is ever trouble or suspicious activity we can sound a siren to scare off any unwelcome intruders.

Aside from this, the camera has a pretty sizable lag between event notification, "live" viewing, and the ever changing interface and features make this a less than desirable paperweight at this point

I have 4 Arlo's on the outside of my house, and a fancy no-use paperweight (to quote another reviewer) inside my house.

Camera quality is great, the app is great, the alarm is super loud, and it's way smaller than expected

All of our alerts so far have been bright lights shining in our front door into the camera late at night, but even though they have been false alarms it is reassuring to know it is working.

The alarm is loud, camera is pretty good quality, night vision is great, and set up is extremely simple

The last thing is a horrible decision made by greedy management, I paid for this camera with the features promised on the first day, but they took them away to force all customers to pay for membership

I am getting rid of my canary and buying another one from a more reputable company

The company that sells this device has breached its promise to its customers.

They have no phone number to call on their website and say they no longer have phone support.

I was thinking of investing in the smaller cameras but since the free services have been taken away and customer service has no phone number you can call, just a text message, I decided against it.

It sudden went offline and tech support is horrible - no phone number so you have to email or text and very limited hours for tech

They also don't have a phone number to call any longer for customer support.

I have tried to contact the company about the issues, however the phone number on the help paper work no longer works

They refuse to update the firmware and give the buyers and opportunity to disable the lights or not

Canary have successfully removed the security and convenience features that enticed many buyers in the beginning

Canary changed how the products works starting in October of 2017, but new buyers get a working product for a few months, and then they too will lose the functionality of their product unless they pay extra

They promised buyers a firmware update would provide two way talk, and then added it as an upgrade requiring a paid membership

Also, a bad guy can use a wifi jammer, available for about 5 bucks, to disable your cameras

I haven't caught any bad guys yet, and I hope I never do, but I have piece of mind knowing if someone attempts unwanted entry into my home, I will know immediately and will be able to thwart any wrongdoing

Unlike dog owners, we have to leave our little guys home to entertain themselves

Buy any other camera other than canary, these guys will rip you off for a camera that is not worth more than $50.
