Very erratic activity reporting with the free version

The Canary home security cameras are very good at capturing any activity it sees.

But then i went on a trip out of the state and discovered unacceptable activity by my house/dog sitter

I've had the canary for almost a year and just noticed that I no longer get to record for free any activity that lasts any longer than 10 seconds without purchasing a $9.99/month plan

If there is ever trouble or suspicious activity we can sound a siren to scare off any unwelcome intruders.

I can monitor any unusual activity in my home while I'm away

One criminal activity detected and police aware

so I missed the activity that I needed to see

I bought this camera to mainly keep an eye on the house when I am not there and to check any unusual activity with kids if I am home

We have been able to monitor our home when we have been away and called the local police department when it detected movement when we saw unusually activity.

The video constantly skips, sometimes so bad it misses the actual activity it's supposed to pick up

just an update scares me as well, as who knows what functionality will taken away next?Sad to say

The WIFI aspect of the unit does not work, and after several hours on WIFI the unit goes offline...therefore I have to keep it plugged into Ethernet, so I am limited as to where I can place the device

The app works as it should with about a 5-second delay, granted the internet can be spotty at my work (which is weird because it's a tech incubator)

My review will reflect countless other reviews, the Canary corporation performed a bait and switch, initially promising great home security, now charging the price of the device per year for what was included as a basic free for life feature.
