when scanning on the Mac(I never experienced any communications issues with Windows or Linux, but ADF scanning speed is much faster on the Mac.

Had to call tech support to get the scan-to-email set up (way more complicated than our HP); we never did get the email to the printer to work (the tech dismissed me when I asked by saying I wouldn't like it-what?).Loved the speed, loved the quality of the printouts, loved that I could put a stack of double-sided documents in the ADF and it would automatically scan both sides, loved the larger capacity paper tray

I really like the speed from hitting print to printing the 1st page.

The speed of printing and color was impressive as well.

The printed document quality is excellent, and the speed is impressive especially for 2-sided printing

This is how easy it is, turn it on, select you language, set the time, calibrate the color, connect to WIFI, put your install disc in your computer then click on easy setup and in no-time you're done, 30 minutes from unboxing 'til printing, it's really that simple.

The Canon MF733CDW setup was easy on our Mac based wifi network

Setup was very easy, and I was printing within 30 minutes of opening the box

You can select a higher scan resolution, which of course means that the scan pdf file gets to be large (500 MB).Out of the box, the setup was fine; we run the printer through our wireless network and the network connection was easy to set up for printing

Tech support determined that the cartridge was defective and overnighted a new one

Tech support decided my black cartridge was also defective

It did required a long conversation with Canon Tech Support to get the scanner to work on our first computer.

A few weeks later, Canon seemed to have updated the software drivers: when we added the second computer, the setup was easy with no need to call Tech Support

After emailing tech support for a few days, the solution was that the magenta cartridge is bad and needs to be replaced

In the end I decided that (a) Only about 16% of the reviews were negative, (b) there was not a single compelling complaint theme running through the negative reviews, (c) it was worth risking $350 in the hopes of avoiding a $1000 and up expenditure for a more commercial printer.

I wanted a more cost efficient printer than my every day three in one, ink jet, however, there are many days I’d prefer to go back to ‘ol trusty

I bought four high capacity cartridges (one in each color) and even with the discounts that Cannon gave me, their combined cost exceeded the cost of the printer by over 100%!!!

I was looking for something that had good consumable costs, printed quality text and graphics, and could do photos reasonably well when I didn't need perfect photo quality

Upgraded from an older canon - not sure about the touchscreen yet - takes some getting used to- scan is different from my previous canon to a desktop - software seems a little more complicated to me but color is fantastic as always with a canon machine

Long ago, ink-jet printers could produce remarkably clear color prints and last a long time

This is not for high quality photos, but very good to excellent color as a business printer

A big negative for me was when I printed 900 pages of text documents - apparently the document pdf was encoded as color, and the print job completely depleted all my starter toners.

HP's ADF really is a loud, flimsy, half-@ss piece of garbage compared to Canon's.-Smooth, quiet operation from printer and ADF-1 GB RAM vs only 256 MB on the HP M477fdw-80 MB of secure print storage space built in vs external USB stick required on the HP M477fdw-Too many features to count, one of which being Google Cloud Print.-Great price!

This printer does good quality scanning (double sided at once)

I am a print quality consultant and I'm disappointed with the weak blacks, poor print quality, the lack of ICC profiles and the inability to create a custom profile for it

Software worked for 7 and XP64, installation was a breeze on my wired lan.

I compared a printing of the image I was using from the Canon MF733Cdw to the same image printed on my HP M477fdw and, while they both had great quality, the Canon got the colors slightly more accurate than the HP.The only drawback to this printer is that there are no Linux drivers for it.

So much conflict and inefficiency in our home because of this hideous printer and even worse Canon support

I suggest Canon do a serious FW update to improve the menu structure as settings are in multiple places and multiple layers that sometimes lead nowhere in the space time continuum.

If they're not as good as the Canon cartridges I'm going to chuck them out.

I got tired of the expensive ink cartridges for the ink jet printer.

Out of the box, we have the error code telling us that a non-genuine toner cartridge was installed

If they're not as good as the Canon cartridges I'm going to chuck them out.

Either the cartridges are not reliable or the printer is defective.

This default will keep you from accidentally printing a bunch of color pages that would use the more expensive color toner.

I learned that this unit needs to be connected directly to the outlet and not to a multiple outlet extension cord because it needs to draw max juice to warm its toner and jump in and out of sleep mode.

The second part of the issue, specifically the excessive toner wastage, has to do with the cycling of internal cartridge components.

The first reason is that Brother is engaged in a very dubious practice regarding toner management.
