    • This lens not only produces very sharp images for true macro photography, but also produces that much desired, smooth, dreamy bokeh
    • For 1:1 Macro shooting I have been able to get a good amount of sharp images at 1/80 handheld but much prefer 1/100+.Aperture: Very sharp wide open but still gets even sharper as you stop down
    • It takes insanely sharp close up images
    • Prime lens makes all the difference, super fast and crisp images

    • As the title states, this lens produces wonderfully sharp, detailed and contrasty images.
    • It has fantastic clarity, and the fixed focus makes it great for portraits as well as macro imaging

    • Beautiful images, beautiful bokeh, tack sharp, quick focus, fairly light with a nice image stabilization feature.
    • So far I have been able to shoot down to 1/20 without a tripod and still get crisp images
    • I've shot sharp images at shutter speeds I never thought possible, and probably wouldn't be possible without Canon's hybrid stabilization that compensates for angular and planar camera shake.
    • The IS makes this lens more workable in low light for far more usable images
    • I've started using it for portraits as well!Makes for fantastic images no matter what I use it for

    • And the images are just tack-sharp

    • This lens truly deserves its L designation with the sharp images that it delivers.
    • First off, at under a thousand bananas, you get unbelievable L-quality images and really nice build as well
    • The first images I captured with it were fine, technically speaking – true to the online reviews, the colors and sharpness were right up there with the more expensive lens
    • I even used in low light indoor condition and still got a very good image of portrait using ambient light.
    • It is very sharp image and IS is wonderful for handheld
    • Very sharp macro images are possible with a high degree of definition bearing in mind the effects of aperture values with close-up photography

    • Feels great, performs soooo well, and the images
    • I shot a macro of a rose, in the shade, with the wind blowing and the image stabilization captured a crisp image in spite of the movement
    • When used correctly it produces superb image quality
    • Very sharp images with wonderfully creamy boken produced by it's 15 elements.

    • My next shoot I made sure IS was on and nearly all the images are tack sharp
    • The image is crisp
    • I do not like this lens on landscapes--the colors are muted and the image seems lacking in contrast and sharpness once it is faced with distance.

    • The lens produces sharp and crisp images and there are no complains there
    • The image stabilizer works great, helps with 1, 2 stops
    • I have heard many people say that the image stabilizer does not work well in the full macro mode.
    • When I'm bending down focusing on a flower or something close, the slightest shakes and rocks by me will blur the image
    • I've used it for macro + portraiture creates beautiful sharp images
    • The L version of the 100mm f2.8 is much easier to use and produces sharper images without a tripod than my previous non-L version of the lens,
    • My images are tack sharp with beautiful bokeh.
    • The auto focus is fast and accurate and the image stabalizer works like a charm
    • Nice IS - handhold standing shots at 1/15 with 90%+ tack sharp images on a crop body (non macro)
    • Knowing the limitation in low light but having IS and seeing some spectacular images compared to the 100mm f/2.8 non-IS and other lens with similar focal length, I made the plunge and boy was I glad I did!
    • The images are SHARP, in fact, so sharp to a point it just mind boggling wrapping my mind around the amazing technology that goes behind creating these engineering marvels
    • This lens is wonderful, the images are crystal clear and it is working great as a portrait lens
    • Since I took the first picture I realized that the images are excellent, very clear, I have taken photos of insects in great detail, excellent portraits some photos of architectural details, birds etc. can make great pictures
    • The camera has poor image quality, so I returned the lens becausewithout the 7DMKII, I don't have another Canon body
    • The images are so good that a 100% pixel peep is not only useable but compares well to any other photograph.
    • Of all these, the lens I reach for most is the 100mm 2.8L. Its light, so I can carry it for long periods of time, its nicely sharp, arguably as
    • Now, they will likely not be as sharp as if they were on a tripod, but they will still be usable and this is a huge difference; you will be able to spontaneously capture things you would have missed before while setting up your tripod
    • A relatively slow shutter speed to capture the scene in front of me usually meant I'd have to compensate by ratcheting up the ISO or go wider with the aperture, which are not always or often good compromises, for image quality reasons as well as for reasons of creative choice.
    • It is a high-grade plastic and I think Canon decided to switch materials to reduce the weight of the lens, which I prefer as it gives good balance on my 5D mark I with battery grip.
    • You can use it as a medium telephoto, as well as, of course, for macro work.
    • It brings everything into focus, making my photography look as sharp as it can be.
    • Relatively light weight at 625g makes it easy to carry and balance.
