Probably not as durable as some "L" lenses, but every bit as weather resistant and a lot lighter.
-
Canon and Tamron make some great macro lenses
-
Eliminates the graininess out of pictures that you experience with cheap lenses.
-
Simply amazing! If you can afford it, L lenses are the way to go!
-
My wife loves this lense for her photo events (i.e weddings birthdays ect..)....
-
I contacted them and they overnighted the correct lense to me, which meant I had it for my trip
-
This is probably one of the sharpest lenses in Canons EF lineup.
-
I love this lense
-
This lens is probably the best of several wonderful Canon L-Series lenses I have.
-
lense). For quality, it really significant & invaluable to have the IS on a macro lense
-
Excellent macro lense
-
While I do not typically use many primary lenses since I like the flexibility of a zoom when traveling, I will be finding a way to bring this on my travels for macro and portrait use.
-
The 100mm Macro 'L' is definitely one of the very best lenses available.
-
I think it is a matter that a prime is able to take sharper pictures than a zoom.'dpreview.com' does an extensive test of the Canon EF 100mm L macro lens and concludes 'this is one of the very finest lenses we've seen'
-
Absolutly love this lense
-
But IMHO, it's well worth it, not just because of its fantastic quality, but also because these lenses don't really seem to lose their value
-
This is simply a great lense
-
A picture at 1/20s with IS enable is sharper than 1/100s of the old lense (without IS).In my opinion, this lense is also usable for many other purposes (other than macro) for example: portraiture - this will be in between the 85mm and 135mm lenses, with the IS feature and nice bokeh & sharpness, this lense is also very nice for portraits, especially for kid portraits (if you already had three 85mm 1.2L-II, 100mm 2.8L, and 135mm 2L lenses
-
However, there are also other excellent lenses which cost
-
This has quickly become one of my favorite lenses
-
One of the best L series lenses.
-
One of my best lenses
-
Don’t waste you $ on slow, fuzzyish lenses, save up and invest in good L glass from Canon.
-
Fantastic lense!!what more can I say!!
-
blows both lenses out of the water as far as IQ and sharpness.
-
This lens is sharp, fast, and one of the best macro lenses out there.
-
First I have to say that the old lense was very very good but in low light a tripod was an essential
-
But because focus is so critical to effective macro photography, I thought I'd add this little bit of advice for people who, like me, wear glasses with progressive lenses.
-
On top of that, how many lenses (or products, for that matter) have a 4.9 out of 5 on amazon, especially after hundreds of reviews
-
Excellent lense which will be used for close range photos
-
It is probably one of the cheapest L lenses in the Canon L series
-
One of my favorite lenses!
-
I don't find myself using the full setting at all, I switch between the two modes depending on what I need and the focusing is as fast as my other L lenses.
-
One of the least expensive L lenses, it doubles as an amazing macro as well as a really great portrait lens.
-
This lens creates the best bokeh I have seen form a lens, including the lenses I own that stop down to f1.4.If you are looking for possibly one of the best macro lenses on the market
-
These lenses are built very well and should last a lifetime
-
It feels every bit as rough as my other all metal L lenses.
-
Macro is something that i always wanted to try but with bad lenses that I had prior to this, I was never able to appreciate my macro pictures
-
AMAZON was fantastic in their response to initially sending me the wrong lense (only such error I ever have experienced with Amazon)
-
One of my favorite L lenses
-
However, it is also one of the best portrait lenses you can buy
-
An amazing lense
-
I keep hearing about how good prime lenses are compared to zoom
-
Not much to say, except one of the finest lenses to ever come from Canon.
-
If your looking at this review your probably a little addicted to lenses but maybe your a little broke by now getting other lenses, flash camera gear
-
Great lense as I would expect of a Canon 'L" lens, takes very sharp pictures, the stabilization works well in hand-held photos
-
Any of the major websites will tell you the truth: this lens is AWESOME and one of the top 3 Canon lenses at the moment
-
It is one of my favorite lenses.
-
It is of course one of the best macro lenses you can buy, and a lot of fun to play with in that regard
-
With IS this lense is fantastic, a must have.
-
Highly recommend this lense
-
This is one of the best lenses I've owned
-
The only other complaint I have is that it makes my other lenses look cheap by comparison.
-
The lens is fairly light, but does not feel as solid as most other L lenses.
-
Probably not as durable as some "L" lenses, but every bit as weather resistant and a lot lighter.
-
I had the non L and this blows that out of the water!
-
]Compared to a "normal" L lens like the 200mm L:[
-
It is expensive yes, but as with all L glasses, worth every single penny
-
Don’t waste you $ on slow, fuzzyish lenses, save up and invest in good L glass from Canon.
-
But the new 100mm macro L is very much worth the upgrade, and the IS is a welcome addition to Canon's most popular macro option.
-
First off, at under a thousand bananas, you get unbelievable L-quality images and really nice build as well
-
One of the best L series lenses.
-
First off, at under a thousand bananas, you get unbelievable L-quality images and really nice build as well
-
The lens is made of a newer plastic barrel, but it is far from the cheaper non L variety
-
(The standard insider joke is that the 'L' stands for 'Expensive as L')2
-
Much better even than some of my other "L" lenses and well worth the upgrade from the non-IS version
-
It is probably one of the cheapest L lenses in the Canon L series
-
This lens is the best "L" lens you can buy for the money because of the following reasons:1
-
Fantastically sharp and fun to play with! This is my first "L" lens and definitely worth the price to treat myself
-
One of the least expensive L lenses, it doubles as an amazing macro as well as a really great portrait lens.
-
I don't find myself using the full setting at all, I switch between the two modes depending on what I need and the focusing is as fast as my other L lenses.
-
Anyways, if you want a comparatively cheap L lens that you can use for shooting portraits, street shots, and other type of shots, you will find this baby more than capable.
-
It feels every bit as rough as my other all metal L lenses.
-
One of my favorite L lenses
-
Sharpness is incredible, almost as sharp as my 50mm 1.2 L model
-
I don't have a really fast L lens, but that is probably coming next
-
The optical stabiliser works brilliantly, and was the reason I purchased the 'L' version of this lens instead of its much cheaper non-'L' counterpart
-
Otherwise, for studio work on tripod, the non L will be perfect and you can spend the extra money on other things (like food).
-
The lens is fairly light, but does not feel as solid as most other L lenses.
