I use this mostly for portraits so if you are looking to buy a great portrait lens and don't want to spend $1000+, look no further
I took this lens to Yosemite with me, and I think it takes good landscape photos as well as portrait photos
It takes beautiful portrait pictures and is great for indoor pictures where previously my pictures would come out too dark, but not with this lens!
This lens takes beautiful portrait pictures with a gorgeous bokeh effect
This is a great lens for sharp portrait pictures - it creates a really nice "bokeh"; so everything in the background is blurred while the subject is incredibly focused
The button on the battery barely sticks out very far compared to other brands, but the unit is partly to blame too b/c of its design for its battery connector
Quality, Clarity, and Powerful... great product and important lens to have...
Very good product - received quickly, and it works GREAT!!!
Very good product - received quickly, and it works GREAT!!!
This product is great for portraits and can get the job
It has such beautiful bokeh and the pictures turn out great!
Bokeh is very nice as the lens has rounded aperture blades
The wider the aperture (thus lower the f-stop) the more background you can blur (bokeh) at closer focal lengths in order to produce flattering portraits with a focus on the subject
This lens is light weight, super sharp, and has amazing bokeh
, bokeh is rather harsh, and autofocus is not very reliable
I know it's the photographer that makes an image successful and not the equipment, but the shallow depth of field and overall quality of this lens for the price really helped elevate my work
Great starter prime lens and the quality of the images is outstanding
I love the amazing quality of the pictures this lens produces
Such an amazing lens - great quality and fun to play with a fixed lens once in a while.
This lens just takes amazing quality pictures with very little effort.
As my first prime lens the 50mm has definitely improved my photos
If you only have your kit lens, and you never shot with any old manual SLRs (where fast 50mm lenses were king), you owe it to yourself to pick one of these up.
The 50mm with the 1.6 crop factor makes this lens tricky to use inside unless you plan shots in advance
I wasn't expecting much when I got this cheap 50mm lens for my new
yet i have switched to a 35mm, cuz 50mm on a crop body is bad for indoor shooting situations -- you will capture the face of a subject but lose all the context in the pictures (e.g., the surroundings). when you are indoor, you don't have much space to step back
The autofocus is louder than more expensive models - this is only relevant if you are doing cinematography, the sound WILL show up in a video.(3
Bought this mostly for the 50mm and the F1.8, and because of great price, I did not like the older models because I invested in bigger and larger lenses
Ef 50mm 1.8 worked very well with the Canon EOS 5 D Mark III full frame.
It's great for low light situations if you are looking for a sharp lens and you can't afford the L
(1) The autofocus is not as fast as more expensive models
There's a rumor that the new 50mm L 1.2 will appear anytime soon in 2016.I believe this time the rumor must be more than that cause this lens and the technology inside reflects a new milestone in photography
Great lens, super sharp, though not as quiet as i though it would be.
If you are taking pictures in close quarters like inside a house, you’re going to have a bad time.
delivered on time, with great response time on questions, product as described, recommended
The problem is that the focusing on ours is off just enough that it has a hard time focusing on what matters most - eyes
This lens is really sharp & fast with good background blur.
I wanted an F1.8 lens hoping for the extra sharpness, the better low-light performance, and the pleasing background blur available with the wider-open lens setting.
It doesn't quite autofocus as fast as the L and the L isn't that fast
This is an excellent replacement for standard kit lenses, as the 1.8 aperture provides excellent background blur, and professional quality portrait shots
The background blur with this lens is perfect for portrait photography
